As the title does anyone have an good or bad experiences of these saddles, my new boy needs a new saddle, he is fitting nicely in some of the english leather medium fit saddles on the yard, so he isnt massively wide at present but as he is a cob so needs a slightly flatter tree which some of the English saddles seem to do very well with but he is only nearly 5 and I worry about him widening and feel I might be better of with something adjustible at least until he is fully mature, he has a low wither and I have been looking at the T8 Cob GP for him but I am hesitating.

I rode in a T4 cob a while ago and found it poor quality and felt like it threw me forwards. I suppose thats putting me off a bit!

And experiences welcome!
 
I don't have one but I do have the Kent & Masters cob GP that, as far as I know, is more or less the same. My horse isn't particularly cob-like at all but seemingly he is quiet wide across his shoulders so we picked the K&M due to being able to adjust it and also it costing a lot less than most other makes - bearing in mind my horse was 19/20 at the time I got it I was not prepared to spend a fortune. His previous saddle though had begun to cause pressure points and I fel he was losing muscles across the front of his wither as a result.

The K*M has been absolutely fine and as far as I am concerned is comfortable. I prefer it with the square cantel and I was told because of the design the bars are set further back which allows more room for the shoulders to move.

The only negative is that it isn't really suitable for any serious jumping. It is perfectly adequate for me and my horse to do jumping and XC up to the level we do (ie approx 90cm) but it doesn't offer as good support as a jumping saddle would
 
Thanks so much for the reply, yes I heard the K&M was the same only fully leather, I dont jump so thats ok with me!

I brought up the tipped forward feeling with a saddler recently (not the same one as fitted my TG saddle) and he said that the seat of Thorowgoods are quite u shaped so sometimes you do feel more tilted forward than in a different saddle of the same size. His theory was to go up a seat size so for me from a 17" to a 17.5 which positions you slightly better and eradicates the tipped feeling. I've not tried as I can't really afford to sell my nearly new saddles and buy the same but bigger but might be worth bearing in mind for future reference!

Thanks so much, I was on the verge of ordering when I read this, I usually ride in a 17 but have now ordered the 17.5!

Im currently after a T4 cob for my daughters ex pony (think he's mine now!) but not 100% sure he will take a 17.5 sadly
