Those Expecting Foals This Year

Well had to really, with a mare called Ghost there can only be one name for foaly

Denver was named on a drunken night in with my friend who shares him with me!!! Denver the last dinosaur was our favourite programme as kids!!!!!!

LOL - I wasn't sure what this was gonna be about and I didn't know if I would be allowed to answer.......... due to the number of foalies I am expecting this year

BUT, I can safely say, that I still have the extensive list of both stable names and registerable names I had in preparation for H's arrival - neither of his names are on these lists!! So make as many names up as you can - chances are the foal will name it's self, like H did!

Mmm, this is what I suspect happens most of the time. I'm just paranoid that it's going to end up with the most gawd awful name if I don't come up with something witty and charming for Amy's little bundle of joy.

LOL - I think it does too!! I was all for Bear for a colt, then blurted out Hector when he was minutes old and it stuck!! Took MONTHS deliberating over a posh name though - as you may remember

I'm not thinking of names yet, no way, not until they are here happy and healthy. I know if i do, something WILL go wrong! But thats just me, lol.

Howver, i already have an A4 sheet of paper with show names all over it, i've had it for years and keep adding names i like, lol

One of the girls at the stud were Herbie was born thought up Herbie, I'm rubbish wth names and it really suited him so we stuck with it!

His registered name is rubbish as I thought of it!

Ours are always sort of decided! We have a system - alphabetically every year (we're on "E" this year!) and they are all "herb/plant" names (family business is garden centres!) - this year we had Double Rocket, Dame's Violet, and Damask Rose

Well, the specific problem I have is if Amy has a little Filly. I have no idea where to even start.

If it's a colt - sorted. 'Proper' name definately anyway.

Amy is Amy May - Stallion is Lostock Huntsman. Stallions dam is Daisy May. Quite happy to stay with the 'May' bit. As can't really find anything to do with hunting and female that I like - such as Diana etc. Can't use Lostock obviously.

Thoughts??

Oooo what about May I - kinda quirky, not sure if you like quirky though?

That's quite clever actually - and certainly one for the list!

My mare is called Denali (Denny), and the stallion is called Puzzle's Star Struck, so I am thinking of called my baby "Starden". What do you think?

I think "May I" is a good name. Or what about May-Bea ?

Can't really have May Bee or May Fly etc as there is a line in existence at the farm already with those.

Starden is nice

I do have a foal due but hadn't even thought of naming it until I read this. Not easy to go with the combination of names as I don't know the sires name, colour sometimes has a bearing, but even that isn't certain, what do you get with a bay x palomino?
Before now I have always had names thought up, hmmmmmmmm......the farm is called Mae Farm (coincidental as May has been mentioned) but I have no plans to breed often enough to warrant the expense of registering a prefix. Thinking of names is all part of the fun though

my naming was confined mostly to colt names as i was sure she would have one(because i would rather a filly!)
filly arrived i had 5 days to get her papers sent to KWPN so her name was really rushed!first she was called beyonce on her papers and then i changed it in the nick of time to blue moon ranini as her reg name and her stable name as beyonce or b!

Not got a foa due this year but hopefully next year! I've already got names lined up (Storm is due to throw me a strapping great colt!), it's either going to be steve or Little Dave (they will be both sable names and registered names

Oh god I have, sad or what! Sire is Cool Diamond Star & dam Magic Moments, so thinking along the lines Cool Magic Diamond if it has a star then Cool Magic Star. Whatever it will incorporate the parents names. I am also hoping for a filly, keep calling the bump a she. I feel more excited about this one then any of the others, probably because this was bred to keep. Also considering she went to the stallion end of Feb but did not get in-foal until she was AI'd July, I very nearly gave up! The people looking after him forgot to mention that he had never covered anything & probably would not be suitable for a maiden mare.

I have sort of mulled over names - with the one due in a couple of months, it has to have something to do with weather as dam is Cloud and sire is a Breeze stallion, however this foal won't be registered so not such a big deal.

The other one is Breeze again and Golden Doc O'Lena on the dam's side. Mind you I still haven't had this one confirmed yet so may have another year to think of this one's name.

To be honest, I think you have to wait and see what the foal looks like before you name them. And of course registered ones are quite different from those who only need a stable name.

Clever name!! Yes that was sort of where my mind was going......of course this foal belongs to a 10 year old child and I just KNOW that she will have the ultimate say......so it's likely to be something more like Sky
