Can I please borrow you for a little market research??

Driven by my own frustrations at the available range in Mothercare and the like, I would like to gauge the interest in baby apparel that is more in keeping with countryside style... I am thinking natural fabrics and colourways, countryside prints etc for change bags, changing mats, carriers etc.

Please tick the poll to indicate your level of interest

Many thanks

you can buy country style clothing for babies and toddlers, look at jojo mamanbebe for waterproofs, wellies, tweeds... high street do lots of country prints, my toddler has a waxy type jacket with ponies printed on which came from high st. I wouldn't want to spend a huge amount on clothing for a baby or toddler, as they outgrow them so fast.

I can't see what else a baby or toddler would need.

I tend to avoid "themed" clothing. I like natural fibres, organic where possible and have made several items of clothing for my daughter, using good quality fabric as this is a cost effective way of getting quality garments. I tend not to buy expensive designer stuff as she is in it for such a short time I don't see value for money however I do like Frugi stuff as the sizes are generous and the clothing lasts (an is cut for cloth nappies).

I am not a fan of "mini me" type clothing for children (although I often wish I could find clothes as fab as some of hers!).

I suppose the gist of this is that it would come down to weighing up the quality and price. I obviously want her to be warm and dry when out and about, she has recently selected a fantastic rainbow striped knitted coat (complete with pixie hood) and she adores her red wellies and her waterproof jacket and trousers.

That got a bit waffly and probably doesn't help you much - sorry!

what poll?

Thank you for your help refining my question, I have now edited the original post to explain that by baby apparel I mean things like change bags - which hopefully would last a little longer :D

Ah, sorry! :o

I can't really see a market for change bags, because if other horsey folk are anything like me then they use a normal change bag (mine's khaki colour). And you can buy wipeable bags anyway.

Now, a decent pram that folded small with one hand and had those huge wheels of a phil n teds style... that i would go for!

That's why you need a nice woven wrap - babe on your back, sorted!! ;)

Some people go mad on woven wraps and mei tais. I am not allowing myself to buy any more (we have 3!) but I know some people refer to their "stash".

Yesss I am one of them!! Do you think there might be a market for panels with equine / hound / countryside panels or colourways?? I would love a tweed one!! :D

This is an interesting perspective re. change bags and I wonder if you might be right?! ... Especially agree regarding the pram :D

The thing is, I think I am in the minority amongst my friends (horsey or not) regards natural parenting and wraps etc. Am I allowed to mention another site on here? You may get a bigger response there.

He he thanks Silver! Sadly I think it may be a non starter as we baby-wearing-horsey-folk seem to be a small minority and the other forum has raised some legitimate concerns about materials

In all honesty, I probably wouldn't. It's easy enough to get practical stuff if you shop around, whatever your budget. And I'm not really into grown up stuff for kids, especially toddlers & babies. I'm not at all girly & definitely a horsey, outdoors person. But while stuff like tiny wax jackets, waterproofs etc are handy, I prefer the majority of baby & toddler stuff to look like its for them, not me. Sorry but you did ask for opinions. As regards 'natural' parenting, we all have our own views on what that is, its not a fixed set of guidelines involving wraps etc imo.
