Who do you use for insurance? My daughter is going on a holiday to Canada for a trail ride. Any recommendations appreciated.

I think unless you are doing hunting or jumping it’s covered under a normal travel policy. I think the last one I had 4 years ago to go trekking In Iceland was with Sainsbury’s.

Have a good read of normal policies, when I did some riding holidays years ago I struggled to find a policy that covered you if you rode every day.
I ended up getting a recommendation from the company I booked the holiday with

I agree with this. I went on a horseback safari and I specified the type of holiday when I arranged the travel insurance. The holiday company encouraged me to obtain written confirmation of cover. When requested the insurance company changed their mind and wanted to charge me considerably more. I argued my case and got the extra cover without paying extra but it was a lesson learnt.

I had cover with my bank account, but I wrote and informed them that it was a riding holiday and that I have my own horse and rode several times a week and posted a copy of the holiday details. They got a bit wound up when the brochure suggested "games" and I had to explain that it was very low key on site in the arena.

You need to read the small print and find out exactly what is covered.
