I got mine for £500 and literally two days later someone offered me £5000 at a competition! I had loaned her for a year at her yard then the owners husband had a heart attack and the owner couldn't afford to pay the current yards high prices and so I moved her near me and where it was half the price.
When i started riding her, she was renowned for being unrideable and she reared napped etc, luckily I never had a big problem with her and so she became "rideable" and fit again. Then owner decided that she was going to travel round Spain for a bit and offered her to me for £500. She's costing a flippin' fortune now though xx
There is someone on Facebook looking for a free to good home for there mare

I have an ex racehorse - I bought him for £450
I have recently been given free of charge an 8 year old pure bred Arab - he was advertised on FB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Both are beautiful, kind natured and ridden.
Put a wanted ad on Horsequest or somewhere like that...you will be gobsmacked at the number of horses offered to you.
My friend did that and had about 18 responses from people wanting to give their horses away. Shocking really.
I put an ad on some facebook groups. Had loads of replies which I was surprised at.
Also, I contacted local racehorse trainers and they had a few but the horses had some problems I wasn't prepared to deal with (one had damaged tendons in both front legs to the point he was wobbling when standing still).
I finally got a 2.5 year old thoroughbred gelding off of the local burrows for pennies and the bonus is he is very well behaved and loves a cuddle!
Got my mare cheapy as a six year old lightly backed (had been backed at 3 but time off due to accidentally getting pregnant). Had her six months over summer lightly re-backing her, saw her getting quite a tummy on her so had her checked for being in-foal again, yep ! About 6 months pregnant. Lovely!
All my plans for re-backing and bringing on during next summer buggered as she's due in April and will have foal on her for at least six months!
Thanks very much for all of your replies. I am in South Yorkshire area so most of you are a bit too far away. I am 5ft 10 so ideally will find something 16-17hh ish and ideally will be a gelding although not essential. Would prefer something medically fit so that I can ride it in future and possibly compete on it.
Are you near Sam Jimmison DN6? She has a sale page and says make a cheeky offer as she is struggling for space. Got lots of TB's that will have already had some work. Good luck.
