How long did it take you to see a difference in your horses topline?

Mine arrived at the weekend and I used it for the first time yesterday - impressed so far as pony seemed happy in it (once I'd actually put it on correctly!!)

We just did a short session yesterday with lot of walk to let him get used to it but the plan is to lunge him in it twice a week for 20 minutes as per the recommendation.

Due to a variety of factors, he's lacking in topline at the moment so I'm putting together a regime of lunging with the equiami, hacking, in hand pole work and some flatwork to hopefully improve his condition.

I read somewhere that it can take 12 months to develop topline so I know it's going to take a while but I just wondered how quickly I should be able to see an improvement?

Plan is to take some pictues over the coming weeks for comparison as it isn't always easy to spot the improvement when you are looking at them every day!

I've been using mine for about five weeks now (lunging and riding as I also have the riding aid, aiming for twice a week in each but more realistically lunging twice and riding once), and I have just begin to notice an improvement. His neck is getting a better shape and his bum muscles are improving, others on the yard have started commenting as well. I have the physio coming out on Thursday so will be interested to see what she says too.

Thanks Tash! Good to know that you can see a difference so quickly! Hopefully I'll have the same results - I've been confined to flatwork until his topline has improved enough to fit his jumping saddle so hopefully we might still get out and do some jumping this summer!

I'm interested too, just bought one as they looked really good.

Unfortunately I am yet to try it out as the weather here has been rubbish but the place I bought it from have an ex racer and they said they saw results really quickly which sounds positive.

I got mine in the post today? Physio told me that I should see a decent difference in a month if I lunge with in x2 a week, especially lunging with poles fanned out, and some raised

I used mine twice a week ish for 3 weeks and physio came back out, couldn't believe the difference (good difference!)
Haven't used it much recently actually but just reminded myself how beneficial it is to my horses :o One of mine goes quite naturally in it, if the other is declared sound tomorrow I'll start long lining her in it as she is more resistant to it so to speak ;)

I think I have averaged 2 times a week with lots of uphill hacking in between and he looks like a difference horse and rides like one too. He is a very high headed arab and tense and sharp and his movement is now so much softer and longer and more balanced.

Is it like a Pessoa with a differnt name?

I much prefer it as there is no see-saw on the mouth as with the pessoa and when the horse works properly they are free of any kind of pressure. They also can't lean on an EquiAmi as my smaller mare discovered and in her first time in it she tried all the evations in the book! :o

Really good to hear that so many people have seen results relatively quickly!

From the limited experience I have, my horse does prefer it to the pessoa - he was very resistant to it but seemed to accept the equi-ami immediately and held a lovely long and low head carriage for the whole session and was relaxed the whole time.

I could also see that it made him engage his hind quarters more in the canter - he tends to try to go on the forehand but this was less obvious with the equiami!

Omg from reading this post I am very interested in this product. My guy is currently under investigation with vet for toe drag. I now have to build him up to full work again and hes always been lunged in my john whitaker training aid. Everyone here seems to love the equi ami. Few questions. will it help alot with picking up behind and developing the hindquarters? How much is the lunge aid incl delivery and how long does delivery take? does it come with roller? Anyone have any experience with the riding aid, will it help pick up behind?

I'm not sure about 'picking up behind', but my horse's hindquarters have definitely developed (as well as topline) since I started using the riding and the lunging aid. And like others have said - under saddle my horse is carrying himself much better, and I am getting more out of each stride, if that makes sense; he is using himself more probably because he is getting the correct musculature to be able to do this.

The riding and lunging aid, called the Combi, is £85 I think, it doesn't come with a roller but you can buy these on the EquiAmi site as well. I'm not sure how much delivery from the actual site is, but I got it delivered free from totally-tack because I spent over £50. It came within a few days I think, probably longer than usual because I ordered between christmas and new year.

i noticed within a few weeks. He also seems to carry himself a lot better when riding too (although i'm sure part of that is down to decent lessons!). Will always be part of my regime now!
