Is it ok to school in a pee wee bit at home to help with rushing and outline issues? My mare gets very unsettled after first canter and takes ages to calm down enough to think about outline, she keeps putting head high and trying to rush for canter again, i normally bring her back to walk for a while to get her to relax and try again but rarely get her thinking of being in an outline again.
However i use a pee wee bit when jumping her as she is SOOOO strong and she seems to get on well with it jumping and listens to me more and i schooled her in it the other day and she went beautifully, still tried the usual tricks after canter but i was able to say no with my hands and wait and it worked really well, she was like putty in my hands for the last 25 mins and did everything i asked immediately and she was beautifully rounded and really working herself. Any advice much appreciated.

I would say if she is happy in it and not bracing, carry on using it. Bits for horses are really personal, what one likes another hates. Don't really think there is any right or wrong - they generally tell you what suits.

I agree with the above statement what works for one horse doesnt work for another - if it works for you go ahead after all shes your horse and your the one riding her:)
