Do you have a front ramp on it? I'm looking to buy one of the ifor Williams HB403 trailers - probably new as second hand ones don't seem to crop up that often - but can't decide whether a front ramp is really required or just an added bonus? What would you guys recommend - thanks in advance!

When I borrowed a 403 it had a front ramp. I personally would get one as I don't like teaching my horse that he can back out!

I've just taken delivery of a brand new hb403 and its all shiny and new.....couldn't possibly put a horse in it! Lol mine has a front ramp and I wouldn't want it without one. How exciting for you.....I totally live mine. I've also had a hb401 in the past and loved that too!

Thanks for your replies! I think I shall go for a front ramp especially as my horse is only rising 4 and I was a bit concerned whether backing him out would lead to potential bad habits when loading - it's very exciting :-)

Personally I would definately go for a front ramp.
It makes the trailer so much more light, open & inviting for them to load into with it dropped if they are a bit 'sticky'.

Definitely a front ramp. I have a 403 with a front ramp and it's great. As it's a single trailer, the width of the stall inside is a bit wider than a double trailer which means you can get past you horse when its in there (and I have a chunky Highland) and even tack up on wet days. Perfect! Hope you find one.

I've got a 403 with a front ramp. Agree with above about it making it lighter and more inviting for loading. Totally love my little trailer! If it's that you're worried about the extra weight the ramp adds if you're towing with a B licence, you can get the trailer downplated. Can't remember the exact weights but, after taking the weight of the trailer off the downplated MAM, there's more than enough left for the weight of the horse.

I have an IW 401, with a front ramp. My horse is happy to use either the front ramp or back off, so I dont always use it. I do, however, always have it open when loading, to make the trailer brighter and more appealing. When it is closed, she is less keen to get on!

They are fab trailers, and I love mine :)
