What are you doing tonight?

We have heavy rain predicted all night, as mine only went out this Friday I'm a bit worried as they aren't used to it. One has a rug so would be fine but the others don't and I wouldn't trust them with rugs on overnight anyway!

Is anyone bringing in tonight? I am tempted to but don't want to be messing them about!

Mine are staying out. We moved recently and don't yet have stables so have no choice. They don't seem to care tbh. I will probably rug again though!

I do random things with mine, in Feb they can be out for 3/4 nights in a row if the ground is frozen hard enough they won't make mud, in summer they are in if it's windy/ torrential - they will be in tonight and were on Saturday night too (well half a night I got them in at midnight after a night out as it was starting to tip down from 4am!)

I find they like the odd night in during the summer - they just sleep (I can tell because the beds are virtually undisturbed other than a big flat patch)

Mine is coming in tonight. He only went out last Tuesday but he is on the lean side and I don't really want him cold wet and miserable so he will be in where it's dry. I'm sure he would rather be mucked about than out in the wind and rain.

Both mine are staying out, we have tall hedge cover and I popped a rainsheet on them both, much to the disgust of Jester who nipped me on the back of the leg! Was tempted to take it back off and let him suffer, grumpy git!

All mine are out unrugged except the new boy who won't have lived out since he started work he's got a no fill rug on .
It's going to be nasty but it's good for them to be horses for a sort while and learn how to shelter .
I can rug them tomorrow if they look miserable .

Mine will be out with a rainsheet on. He is a porky native type and I know he will be happier out then in, especially if there's grass to eat!

Mine will be out naked as really heavy rain goes through rainsheets and anything thicker will be too hot. If your horse is on the lean side then rug it but if it's a bit porky then it's the best way for it to lose weight!

Thanks all, I have them out in a smaller field (less than an acre) with little grass as they are natives, there is no shelter in the form of trees just a big hawthorn hedge which is usually the opposite direction to the wind, so shelter isn't great in constant heavy rain!

Think I might be best to bring in for tonight.. Not sure how I'll cope with mucking out tomorrow!

Mine have been out (mainly) at night for a couple of months but I watch the forecast and if it's going to be really wet, i keep them in, or if it's looking cold, i rug them up. They don't seem to mind chopping and changing around but they do hate being covered in flies/midges or standing in the field in a howling gale wringing wet. Actually, I suspect they'd prefer to be in a at night all the time but it's much less work to have them out.

Mine (native type - Connie x) is staying out. They go out in April and don't come in until end of October unless staying in before a competition or for the farrier!
He has a rainsheet on and will be happy as larry stuffing his face. He only gets upset in the rain if he is unrugged and cold, as then he shivers and is miserable. As long as he has a rug on he'll be perfectly happy. Our fields aren't exposed and 2 sides are edged by a wood so the wind or rain doesn't howl across.

I was going to leave out as plenty of grass and tree / hedge cover but when I went down to check them just now, the wind is howling and the older 13 year old was just stood there shivering and shaking . So now they are all in for the night and quite happy about it too.

Mine is staying out. She's been out 24/7 since late March and has only had 1 night in on Friday night because we had a competition the next day.
She has sweet itch and for me it's not worth the risk of her itching just because it's raining.
They won't melt :)

Ours are all out. Big hedge they shelter in; and they were all having a hooly around when I went to rug them up. So wouldn't of been able to catch them anyway. No rain yet just wind. Plenty of grass & rugged up. All be fine :) they all go under the hedge anyway in the rain so no worries about running around

Decided to bring them in! Bought them in the other day for a snooze and they were very annoyed but not tonight! Sure they'll be desperate to get out again in the morning but with the lack of shelter I have I don't really want them standing out in a gale!

It's utterly miserable here, and has been for a few hours.

The youngster is currently in at night anyway, and the older two would very happily have joined her this evening! I've chucked them back out, but put out extra hay in the field shelter. They are in there now, munching away (have a cctv camera in it).

If they didn't have the shelter, I'd have kept them in.

Mine will go out like norm, although recently he's been out in either a fly rug or rain sheet, tonight he's in a 100gram neck :)

All 3 of mine (tbx, fellx and trad cob) have been out naked for the last month or so, all 3 have rain macs on tonight though, I don't like them stuck out overnight in prolonged rain/wind with nothing on, although the cob would probably cope well enough!

My Appy lives out 24/7 and came from over 100 acres in a huge herd with no cover/no rug etc so I know he can deal with it and I didn't make it up before he was a little to soggy for a rain sheet but he has got tree cover around 2 edges of his field he just has to learn to use them.

Mine was out in a rain sheet. Brought him in for his dinner just before 7 and he was shivering even though he was dry under his rug. Popped his 100g full neck on and put him back out (his choice!). It really doesn't feel like June here, we have the heating on!

In tonight. Supposed to rain here all night with high winds so I feel happier knowing they're in. I don't mind them being out in heavy rain if it's just for few hours here and there but it's really not pleasant when it's relentless and combined with gale force winds

They've been out since 5th April with just odd few hours in here and there but doesn't bother them to come in overnight when it's like this if they're together. Looked quite happy and relaxed when I left yard at 7.30pm

Mine are in, the younger one would happily never come in, but my old girl hates the rain so she gets the vote and they are in tonight. Mostly if it's just rain or just windy they stay out, but the combo forecast is miserable.

Yes the forecast here is heavy rain now til about 6am with high winds, definitely glad I bought them in now that I'm looking out of the window at horrible weather!

Is it actually June or are we all a few months ahead!?

Out naked (PRE x TB). No stables so no choice on that score. Thought about a rain sheet but by the time I got to yard after work he was already wet (and muddy, had obviously had a good roll) so left him to it. Plenty of natural shelter and none of his field buddies are rugged. Have no doubt he will be just fine
