What is the quality like? Hay/haylage is fine but the straw is very variable but usually dreadful. I could use shavings but they won't reduce the livery and it would add a lot on. Am I expecting too much? It's not just the time of year as it was actually worse over winter.

?both hay and straw is good quality (had a couple of not so good) - at the end of the day yes its included in your livery BUT you are still paying for it x

hay and straw at our yard is included and is excellent quality, and although we have rubber matting the beds are still think and very generous and all hay is adlib as required. we can have them on shavings but that costs an extra £20 a month.

Both our hay and straw is normally of excellent quality if we do get a bad batch the YO is the first to send it back and get it replaced as his horses are using it as well.

I had to move yard because of this once, I would not risk using bad quality straw. Having had a horse with RAO it is just not worth it

We get haylage and straw during autumn/winter months- it is produced on the same farm as the livery yard. On the whole the quality is very good but you do get the odd bale of straw not as great as it could be, but it's not a huge problem.
