How do you manage?, I know its easier in the summer because you can just fence off an area to school in. Im looking at some grazing nearby instead of the yard Im going to which is further away (when I get my horse).
you can school whilst hacking! there is no reason other than your imagination! you can leg yield, sholder in etc on bridleways. and do serpentines, circles etc in fields. all the while working on transitions, listening, not getting over exited and being soft in your hands.
sorry, i kind of blurted that! I just really do think that its good fun and works for me
I school whilst out hacking as mentioned above! I only compete locally but have never had a school and I have done quite well without! Sometimes I have hired a school but only when the ground isn't great and I want to get on with a bit of jumping.
I don't have a school during the winter as I move my horses back home but I try to school whilst I hack. Luckily we have quiet lanes so I am able to do a bit of lateral work as we are going along and when off road I try to work on shortening and lenghtening his stride. I aim to have lessons regually so we can work in a school but it doesn't always happen so I just have to make do with schooling whilst I hack!
