Those of you with older horses

are they as mad as my loan one? I love the fact that i have a 23 year old on loan cob x arab mare who is so mad to ride bless her. One of her fav things is cantering and she can be very hard to stop. She had a habit of bolting on the roads however now she is fit again she seems to have stopped that.

My 18 YO is very energetic as well, and can keep up with most of the youngsters!

My boy (Dutch WB) is 19 this year and is still nuts! The only thing that gives his age away are his teeth!

My 19 year old arab cross did an EGB Endurance Training Ride today, started with a heartrate of 34bpm and finished with a heartrate of 34bpm - the vet said we should go round again as we obviously hadn't worked hard enough - ha! tell my legs that!

I don't think she's getting older - she seems to be getting younger

i have an almost 23 year old Welsh D, Cant believe im saying shes nearly 23!! still acts the same as when she was a young girl, not changed in the slightest, apart from her gorgous grey hairs xx

Don't ride our 27yo Tb anymore, but I bet if we did he'd still be buggering off across stubble fields and non-stop jogging. Riding him makes me worried he's going to have a heart attack

YUP! I have had my old boy for 18 years, he is now 20 and more of a loony to ride than when he was a 3yr old!!!

I think the older they get in body the younger they get in mind!

Honestly, the new 7yr old TB (ex racer) I have is more sane to hack out than my old chap but i love him dearly and would never change him

Nadia sometimes polds a long like she's a million years old and other times I cannot pull her up so easy and she is 19 this year.

My 31 yr old is bonkers lol. He's not ridden much now but when I take him out for a "plod", he has other ideas on how fast we should be going - flat out
