What stirrup leathers do you use with your Wintecs? I was advised not to use leather ones as apparently oil from the leather will mark the saddle. But heard that Wintec/synthetic leathers are not v nice, ie hard and stiff, a pet hate of mine, like leathers to be nice and supple

Which leathers do you all use?

Thank you. Have since been to local tack shop and discovered the Wintec slimline straps which seem fine, very pliable and nothing like the awful thick old stiff synthetic leathers that used to be about. Will see how I get on, will get me started anyway ...

I always found synthetic leathers squeaked like mad! It drove me mad so I bought some bog-standard leather leathers and they are fine

Saying that, I have Wintec webbers on my Wintec dressage saddle (the leather leathers are on my Wintec GP) and they don't tend to squeak.

I've always used normal leathers. I had some of their synthetic ones once - and they were sooooo horrid, I used them about twice and then banished them to a dark place never to be seen again.

(Oh and never had a mark on my saddle)

I use leather with mine, as I hate the synthetic ones, I had my girth straps on my wintec changed from the synthetic ones to leather too as all the wintec's I knew before I had mine, the girth straps cracked after a while making the girth hard to get done up.
Mind you I don't really like my wintec, one day I will find my perfect leather saddle!

Well having taken the Wintec straps out of their packaging I have to say I'm not impressed, they look quite nasty (not to mention I seem to have bought the wrong size, they look very short). I've used Treadstone leathers in the past which were wonderful, very pliable, was just trying to save some money! I think I'll have to invest in another pair - unless anyone has an old (but supple) black pair of leathers looking for a new home? seems you really do get what you pay for

I have the standard synthetic leathers with my Wintec and they have been fine for the 3 or so years I've had them. I don't saddle soap them much either. I have a Wintec stretch girth which is very good as well.

I'd love a new saddle as my Wintec doesn't do anything for my position, so won't bother changing anything until I get a new saddle.
