How do you and your horses get out and about?
Do you rely on friends to give you a lift?
Has anyone done self drive horse lorries?
Do you hire a transport operator?
Or are you lucky enough to own your own transport?

Would love to have my own transport but need to work out the best option.

Opinions please!

Hi there! Yes am in same boat as you , tend to use transporters for convenience more than anything really! Did use self hire two weekends ago, nice experience as at your own pace and your own space xx

I would love to be able to hire a trailer/ lorry for the occasional weekend to go further afield! Does anyone know of self drive hire in the midlands? (Leics/Warks).

There's a lady in Leicestershire who hires a trailer... you just need a 4x4...

If you find anyone who does transport in Leics let me know please... as I would love to be able to get the kids out to shows.

I* hire a women who takes me in her trailer - not cheap but she knows exactly what she is doing - hency why we only trailer up 2 x a year !!

I don't have my own transport, was thinking this morning about posting on here to see if there's anyone in the area who I could get the odd lift with to get me and Pim out and about.

I used self hire to pick him up, it cost about £130 for the day and the lorry was absolutely gorgeous!!!!! I would definately use them again - www.pagasushorseboxhire.co.uk.

Yo has an old horsebox that she doesnt use , its good enough for the pony as its not the biggest , Have friends who have a 510 classic IW , We can borrow it anytime as long as we can take their pony with us , as their father is busy on their farm and their mother does not like towing . So works out fine for us, Probably will get a box at some stage .

Our trailer is broken at the moment and even before then it was hard work getting out because my dad hates towing so much. So, how do we get out? We don't

I'm too young to self drive, can't afford to hire when there is just me, and haven't found anyone to give me lifts. Saving up to either buy a 3.5ton or to do my trailer test and get a 4x4 and trailer. Could be some years at this rate!

i have hired for years. varied between lorries and self-drive. works out pretty expensive at around £100 a trip every fortnight - we used to do about 20 outings a year, so spending at least £2000 on transport every year. i appreciate it's expensive to run your own, but i dont think it's quite that much! at my last yard, used to have a friendly trailer lady with 4x4 who would do 10mile local round trip for £30, 20mile round trip for £50, so she was good for local stuff, then nice mr lorry man used to take me further afield at about £90 for 100mile round trip. also had a few friends with transport who would take me if we were going to the same place.

now i'm saving up for my own 3.5tonner or considering doing trailer test and getting 4x4 and trailer.

I hired it at last minute and because they squeezed me in I had to pick up at funny time so got charged extra, plus the £99 is without VAT.
