Those shoes that can't be pulled off where can I get them?

Another xc training session another front shoe somewhere out on the course.
The horse has a very big overstep and clips the heels of the front shoes with wild abandon.
I saw an advert regarding shoes that looked as if they were plastic and came over the bulbs of the heel. Did I dream this? If not are they any good?

Would over reach boots or something like that help protect the heel - and subsequently the shoe?

Unfortunately no. The horse has a very long stride behind due to being young and still in the early stages of schooling. Getting him to shorten his stride and come up off the forehand will help in the long run unfortunately when out in the field he will still contunue to pull shoes off.
Nothing wrong with his hooves or my farrier just one of those annoying things sent to test horse owners.

I have one like that, 17.2 compact and lanky legs, he used to pull of his shoes weekly as he has got older though and more balanced it has got less of a problem, he can even sometimes go 5 weeks keeping his shoes on, the farrier has helped too by shortening his toes on his hind legs.
So it will get better however that is no help now.

try black duck tape wrapped over the back of his shoes and heels. It worked on a young horse we once had.Obviuosly you don't stick the tape over the whole shoe or studded area as he would slip.

Might try this when he gets a shoe back on, got a bruised sole now so hopping lame. Where's the Epsom Salts?
