Probably a really stupid question but what if anything do you put under the bandages? Do you use pads or gamgee like in the stable.

Also another probably stupid question- do you use the elasticity exercise bandages or can you use the fleece polo/ stable bandages. Wouldn't they get too hot.

Usually mine wears the premier equine event boots for front for everything but thinking about bandages for flat to offer a bit more support.

i used to bandage my horses legs as his front legs where different shapes and he would have to have large boot on one and medium on the other. i used a bit of fibergee (i think thats what its called) its basically like a pad. i used proper exercise bandages but have known people to use normal stable bandages including a point to point horse who needed the extra support that boots werent giving. i would think gamgee would be fine aswell.

I sometimes use the polo fleece bandages, never the stretchy elastic ones. I have used them both with and without gamgee underneath. If I had all the time in the world I would rather use bandages to boots.

The fleece bandages you can use alone, the stretchy elastic type you need to have padding underneath. You can get eskadron climatex bandage pads which are quite popular with people on my yard.

No bandage/boot will 'support' a leg though, so be wary of those that claim to... their only purpose is to protect from knocks.
