Those who have a Cob Type & a TB Type

How do you manage with the totally different gaits of their breeding, i've never owned a cob before in my life and only ridden a few in my younger days, now i've got a TB X and a Cob X, the TB X is lovely and smooth to ride the Cob X feels very bouncy and even when walking feels like she is jog trotting although apparently she is not, they are so totally different. Maybe its because i've only actually rode the Cob X twice, as I ride her more the differences may become less noticeable, hopefully )

I hunt 3 very different horses- an 16hh Irish lightweight cob; a tall-necked, long-backed 16.2hh ISH and a little 15.3hh TBxpony type. The cob is very strong and leans, quite smooth when galloping though, very 'downhill'. The ISH has a huge galloping stride, rides really big and is hard to stop on a sixpence-took me while to click with him. The little girl is small and sharp like a pony. You get used to anything after a while, I just click into the style of each horse and its fine

We have to extremely different different breeds, 1 draft (an Ardennes) and 1 KWPN Gelderlander, a type of WB. They have very different actions.

Fany (cob type) has a fast joggy canter and a very fast pony trot and very active walk, very strong( not nasty or naughty) who is a kick on type but not a plod.

Captain has huge paces, very extravagant working and medium and collected trot and huge but slow working canter; he is very quick off the leg and knows all the movements, god help you if you kick him on! He has been dressage trained to a certain extent.Only been re-broken to ride for 3 yrs.

I think that you just get used to it but Elizabeth has had a few surprises after riding Fany and then getting on Captain, he shoots off when she puts her leg on to hard! She quickly learnt.

I have a H/W traditional cob, a Hannoverian x TB and an ISH. All are completely different rides and have different experience and training. I absolutely love riding each of them for their differences and to me, they are equally excellent.
I also drive different cars. Same really.
