I noticed a Trailer has been stolen in the "Stolen" section of the forum. It got me thinking about my friend who had her trailer stolen a few years a go and it never has turned up. So someone out there has bought a trailer that actually belongs my friend. (So if you know a red 510 with "Red Sonja" on the back? Send us a pm so I can get it back to it's rightful owner)?

So, I am interested and this is anonymous.

got my trailer on ebay too!!! Bloke was great tho

- gave me the chassis number to check with ifor before I went to pick it up. Went to see a couple first that I checked and they were registered as stolen.

I've bought 2 Ifor's from ebay. I checked them both out and neither were stolen as far as I could find out. Resold one and kept the other..

Wow! The results so far is looking quite interesting.

I would like to ask the person who has knowingly bought a stolen trailer "Was it really cheap and was the temptation was too much"? but they just ain't gonna answer me, are they? PMSL!!

I bought a Rice trailer on ebay. Bought it unseen. OH collected it and when I saw it I reaslised the serial number was missing from the plate at the front. I did search some 'stolen trailer' sites but could not match mine to any that were missing.

I can't get it insured because it doesn't have a serial number.

If I buy again, I will definately check for a serial number and try to trace it

When I bought my trailer we had the chasis number checked to ensure it wasn't stolen.

The dealer I bought from though did openly tell me he had a couple of stolen-recovered trailers in stock that he was legitimately selling second hand. Once the insurance has paid out on the trailers, if they're then recovered the insurance company sells them on. Old owners can't have the insurance money AND the trailer returned to them.

Maybe this is what the one "knowingly bought a stolen trailer" answer referred to?

Hmm yes, maybe.

It would be nice to think that was the reason.

Bought my Ifor off my friend (after I had borrowed it umpteen times over the previous year and she had only used it once) so I sort of knew the trailer. As it's been serviced and the floor replaced by an IW Dealer since I have had it, I assume everything is in order as I was allowed to pick it up and take it home again!
