My mare who will be 4 in may has been turned away for the past 3 weeks now, she was coping well with her work but decided to turn away for a little while to let her think about everything she has done. She was backed in june/july.

Hoping to show her under saddle and start a bit of unaff dressage in march time, so probably looking to bring her back around Feb slowly.

So for those with horses similar ages when will you bring back into work and how long have they had off so far?

I've always given them from when the clocks go back to when they go forward. Good length of time and is handy with the extra light! I would say until Feb is a good time to have off - it's just still gonna be blooming dark then... BOO HOO!

Jay, in my sig, was 3 last June and was backed and lightly ridden til middle September. he was turned away into a very big field with tons of grass and 3 friends at the beginning of October. He will come back onto the yard at the end of February to be re-started.
