Sorry, I didn't mean it to sound like that, .. But on my previous post; why can people not do yours for you sometimes in return for you having to feed 25 in a morning then you could have a few mornings to yourself?
Luckily mine are out now for the summer...but in the winter, I get up between 5.15 and 5.30am, get to the yard 20mins later, and leave yard between 6.20am and 6.40am (dependant on what time I got up!). In that time I feed and change rugs and turn out (have two), muck out, do waters, and do hay so stables are done ready for the evening....I have enough haynets to do sunday - friday night so do these at the weekend to save time. Feeds are done in the evening and left with a lid outside stables for the morning so that cuts time too.
It takes me 15 mins to get home, and I always have a shower before work otherwise I stink, I leave at 7.50 to get train to work.
Its even more fun when one was on box rest ALL last winter as then I had the mucking out in the evening to look forward to aswell!!
Get up at 6, leave my house by half 6 to get to yard for 7.
Muck out, do haynets, feed, t.out, plan to have all this done by 7.45, quickly get my stuff, get changed, straighten hair, do make up (all in yards coffee room lol) and leave by 8.15 and drive the 5 mins to work.
Am not looking forward to it, but alas i am no longer a student as of last week so need to get used to it :-/
Alarm goes off at 4.50am, leave for yard at 5am, get to yard at 5.05am, feed all horses (varies from 20 in winter to 6 now as rest are out) fly rug on and out to field with rest of brekkie (individual turnout!) soak hay, skip out (wet come out every Saturday) water, sweep up etc. 5.30, leave yard, back home for shower, breakfast etc, leave for work at 6.10am. Leave for home at 6pm, home by 7.30. J is currently out of work but will hopefully get the all clear from the vet to start work this week so then will have to try and fit in working him as well!
Have mine in minimum time over winter usually Oct- Nov till March- April. I have mats down and use very little bedding in the middle just banks round edge. Just sweep out in mornings - very quick and easy. I take mats out and wash floors at weekends. I leave home at 6 am do 3 horses completely ready to just bring in in evening and return home by 7 am for hubby to go to work. Then get me and kids ready and leave home for work/school. Evenings take 15mins to bring in and feed. I have extra haynets so can fill a few days worth at atime. I am lucky in that I rent fields and stables and turning out ois a matter of opening doors! Putting them in is the reverse.
How I admire you all. When I lived in Berks I had a one hour journey to work. I used to do mine 3 mornings a week on my way to work and pay someone to do the other two. I worked long hours and it nearly killed me.
I am retired but now have 10 to do. I have small rubber mats at the front of each box and straw at the back. I use some shavings on the floor (underneath straw) of those who make their beds very wet - this saves a lot of mucking out time.
