Those who own grey horses.

Have two grey Andalucians and both have no problems but have a bay which suffers all sorts of skin problems ! Live in the south of Spain . Both my greys are now 15 yrs old !

Greys are no more prone to sarcoids than any other colour, it is melanomas that greys are prone to and most of those are nothing to worry about, although they can cause a problem if they suddenly increase in size and/or are in a place where they could cause problems.

Apart from melanomas, greys do not suffer from skin problems any more than any other colour either and as greys tend to have black skin they are not candidates for sunburn other than on pink bits like any other horse.

Exactly what I was going to say but you put it so much better!
I do put cream on my grey mare's pink nose but other than that she goes out naked in the summer, though she does come in for a few hours a day - nothing to do with her skin but due to the fact that she's a fat porker! However all horses are different and I appreciate that some are a bit more sensitive than others. I just don't think that their colour is always the main factor in determining how sensitive they are.
