Please could you recommend any hormone balancing supplements or ideas. My sweet kind and loveable mare had a personality transplant due to coming in season today! Spooky on our hack (so unlike her) grumpy towards my daughters pony, grumpy to the saddle fitter (understandable).I know how I feel when it's that time so what's the best thing I can give her to help her???

I used agnus castus very successfully with a very hormonal little mare. Available as seed or powder on ebay. Most mare supplements major on it.

Have you talked to your vet, I'm also having a dilemma whether to use supplements, or regumate, do the supplements really help? Whilst checking out prices of both there's not a lot in it,

I think there's a big difference in price between regumate and straight agnus castus?

Yes it works, it dampens down the sex hormones. Also known as Monks Pepper :)

So I've redone the math, supplement from my go to company works out 40p a day if I buy the big tub, regumate from on line pharmacy plus prescription about £1·40, but it needs to work, poor girlie.... who'd have em , tbh it's not the cost, I just want what's best

I tried NAF oestress liquid. It works for some.
It didnt make much difference to my mare. Vet recommended regumate and shes back to being a lovely calm horse. Highly recommend it :) she did have an examination to make sure she had no underlying problems that might have caused her upset other than hormones.

I have used Naf Oestress before which worked well, but Wasn’t really grumpy, just a bit sharper and opinionated when in season!

So strange it was just that ONE day in the end!? I assumed it was her season but perhaps not. Never did materialise into anything more and I didn't see any winking or excess urination either. Must've just been an odd day.
Great to have these recommendations though for possibly next spring xx
