Are your horses depressed/lethargic at the mo?
I'm doing a diary for the vet at the moment to decide wether to blood test or not as she's only 8. I've noticed as my other horse is getting hyper with the change in the grass she is getting more and more quiet which is unusual for her :(
She's only out for 2 hours a day as she had laminitis last year, and she's a hyperactive pony at the best of times and she's just so quiet it's starting to worry me!
I've written it down in the diary for the vet but I'm too impatient to see what they say :p
 
Strangely I thought exactly that about my cushings mare today - she's only recently been blood tested & levels were up so Prascend has been increased - but she's been on increased dose for a week now so wouldn't put her quietness down to that. I rode today and actually got off & led her home as she just seemed so quiet/unhappy and as if she was struggling, she didn't even want a little canter which is most unlike her, I put it down to the warm day but maybe not? ......
 
My ems boy is fine....na utallly since he has been on his metformin he has had more energy and gotten alot more cheeky and isn't attacking his hay thinking its the last he will ever have. He has beeb on it over a year now afterr getting very bad lami last jan. He is out for six hours a day but he has nothing in his feild.

My 27y/o Cushingoid been quiet recently & his ACTH levels were high last week so vet has increased medication and will retest blood after 4 weeks.
That said, I'm totally convinced that light has a huge effect on my boy and we've just had the spring equenox - so days have just tipped over into being longer than nights. My boy has a light on in his stable until 10pm each night.
My vet said last week he wasn't sure whether to increase pergolide or not - whilst ACTH levels high he thinks the horse is looking amazingly well & better than he has been for many months.
So we'll wait and see...
 
My shettie was diagnosed with cushings at the age of 13, he is on meds for it. And to be fair he is bronking around the field like normal when his bucket arrives, he is 16 this year so he has had it for 3 years.
 
My cushings pony is only depressed because I have blocked off all his escape routes into the hay field:rolleyes: He only had his bloods redone 2 weeks ago and they came back normal so managed to keep him on his 250mcg pergolide:D
 
My mare is also suffering at the mo .... She is having a lami attack at present but also noticed her being quieter . Interesting
 
my oldies, both on 1.5 prascend per day, are bright and perky! they are 32 and 34! the 32 yr old is retired, the 34 yr old still hacks out 2x a week. sedately.
