Hello,

I think this was posted about quite recently but I cannot for the life of me get any sense from the search facility on this website!

Is there anywhere I can get pictures of specific horses racing - I've just started riding some racehorses (sounds very grand - in reality we're just walking down the road!) - just getting them fit before training but they have raced previously - I'd like to see some pics of them in action so to speak.

Is there anywhere I can go to search for pics etc.

Cheers

I think that they only do videos though, I hope you find some pictures of them though. I am still trying to find pictures of my boy but I don't think he has any.

Has to be said in the vids there isn't the best view as she's not near the front! The race she came second in doesn't have a video. They'll be off into training in a few weeks so we'll see what happens then - it's all very exciting, haven't ridden a TB in years (am a native person) and I cantered one of the mares on a stubble field the other day - she's so tiny compared to the welsh D I hve been riding!

I too have a picture of his dad but nothing (apart from poor videos) of him racing. Well done to him for winning the best mine came was 3rd, bless his lazy bones.

I think my claim to fame at one point is my old boy was ridden by Richard Dunwoody! He did some stupid amount of races, mainly steeplechasing but also P2P and hurdles. He went for x rays about 3 years out of racing - he raced from 5-15yo. The vet said his x rays were not that of an ex racer and she was amazed by them. I wish I had got him younger in life as he had such fab legs/head and was so straight moving

Those of you who are looking for pictures, have you contacted their previous trainers? They sometimes may have copies or could put you in touch with owners who do?

I have tried to get in contact with his previous owners etc (although just for general info before I bought him) but never heard anything back or couldn't find the correct contact details.

have traced every one out of 10

have also got his pedigree, race results and video. Hindered by the fact he went through Doncaster sales 3 times, and between Ireland and England more times than I can count! Gratuitous pic below, my old boy aged 21 years old, and about 30 mins before he was PTS

He looks rather similar to my boy, what a lovley picture you have to remember him by.

Mine was ridden by a jockey - continuoulsy - called P Doe! Hahahaha

And that is a very good idea about contacting the trainer. I will give it a go.

I got some pictures of my two, by looking on attheraces.com for their race history, then I googled the racecourse and found out who the course photographer is/was by looking for a link or ringing the racecourse. Then ring the photographer (mid week is usually best) and asking them, give the time and date of the race and they should be able to get you a photo.
A lot of 'ex-racehorses' have only actually been in training and if they've never hit the track its unlikely you will get any pictures.
FWIW past owners/trainers are usually too busy/ not interested in failed racehorses.

I had a long conversation with my old boys breeder in between a lot of tears and trying to understand his (very strong) Irish accent! Got letters back from his trainers which was nice. I think it's too long now, his last race was 1996

I have often found the opposite unless it's one of the larger trainers that has 100+ through their yard each season

Thats nice, but quite rare IME!

it took time and effort, but the minute I said his name to his breeder, he remembered and this was 18 years on. He was so nice, and also said he didn't believe in racing horses too young. Thats why he only started at 5, and what I credit to his long racing career and retirement

That is fantastic brighthair I would love to have sucess finding more out about mine.
I too would have to try understand the Irish accent if I had as much luck as you did.

Just to thanks for the information about the website 'at the races' .. i've just been on there and seen my boy win a race .. couple more to see .. on racing post only had ones that he was placed in or pulled up
blush.gif
... so exciting .. is this really my laid back boy standing in the field with his lower lip hanging down totally chilling

Thanks again!!

out of interest.. whats everybodies ex racers called- anybody sired by Kahyasi (aga khan)? looking for horsey relatives lol!

finally got courage to email Kali's old trainer (well one of them! he never stayed more than 6 months anywhere!!) so fingers crossed!!

seen videos on at the races and bless him, started so well and then towards the end he just point blank refused to race- got videos where he literally doesn't even leave the starting box... the thing is its so him personality wise- if in doubt, refuse to do anything at all :-D

I bought lovely photo's of my guy through Grossick Racing Photography.

It helps if you know when and where they raced though as there are a lot of photo's to plough through if you don't. I got list of my guy's races through the Racing Post.
