See thats what i thought it should be, included in the livery, but a lot of people have told me yards have meters! What i don't get is if your in the arena with about 5 other people?! Bit unfair.

Yep, free for us too !! Even was free at a yard I was at some years ago - they tried to install a meter service but she found that people just made sure they rode in the daylight - or even in the dark he he he. Obviously it was then removed. Other problem with the meter was if you were having a problem with the horse, you would suddenly be plunged into darkness - not very helpful with a young horsey !!

Free for both indoor and outdoor, its included in the livery cost. But they don't like us to make it like the Blackpool Illuminations, we keep it to a minimum.

My old yard had a meter mainly because they were fed up with people leaving lights on all night. I didn't mind paying too much - it was a quid and lasted at least an hour.

We did think that it would be the ones who had to ride later on dark evenings in the winter that would end up shelling out all the time but in the end I probably ended up only using about 2 quid per week (to school 3 - 4 times).

I don't think it is unreasonable for YO to charge for this but can understand that some paople may think they are paying for others!

My last yard was free, but current yard has only just put them up this winter and charge £1 for 30 mins. I always thought was a bit much. I might print this off as proof!

Included in livery for us, but we do get yelled at if we leave them on while untacking etc. But our YO is v. environmentally friendly and claims that the school lights are single handedly responsible for a large chunk of global warming.....

Ours is in the process of being built, don't think it'll have a meter on it though. I hope they charge by the hour as I don't want my livery being bumped up for a school I won't use!!

We never used to charge - but did have to nag constantly about leaving them on and point out incessantly that a horse stood in the arena by itself not being ridden did not need the equivalent of blackpool illuminations - you could just put half the lights on.
