those with hay steamers

What is the hay supposed to be like when its finished steaming ??

is is damp, wet ??? Ive just made one and im not sure i its been steamed long enough because i don't know what its supposed to be like :-/
Mine came out quite dryish the steam was going through the hay, just don't know.... maybe i over filled the drum :-/

Hiya. It is not wet when it comes out but should be warm and damp. In order to work properly, it needs to get up to about 80 to 90 degrees, we also leave it in with lid down for a little while after turning the generator off. It should smell nice, similar to breakfast cereal or a dark beer ( tricky to describe)

thank you, i steamed some more earlier and it looked much better don't think i cooked it long enough yesterday
