How do u keep yours stimulated? What kind of routines do u have?

I've found myself in the situation where I have to do this, and am trying to work out a routine to keep him happy and stimulated.

I can't ride him at the moment, but I will be up twice a day, probably for a couple of hours a time most of the time, and I'm trying to find things to do with him- so far I have lunging, walking out, long reining and plaitting etc.

What routines do u find best suits yours?
(also in CR)

Is there a particular reason he has to be in? Can you not turn out even if just in a small area? I thought maybe you were going to say he was on box rest but it doesn't sound like that.

My answer would be (if I found myself in that situation for whatever reason) - get out of that situation and find a field to put my horse out in.

The only way I was able to keep my filly sane while on box rest was with sedalin and taking her out to graze in-hand for two long sessions per day.

I agree with Ladyt25, if this isn't a box rest situation can you turn him out in a sand school or similar for a while each day?

Why does he have to be in :(
When Obie had to be in, the only way to stimulate him was treat balls and likits... but likits are full of molasses which makes them more fizzy!

I can turn him out in the school for half hour at a time, but he tends to go nuts in there (excitement lol) and will do more damage. I will let him roll in there each day at the minimum.

I am looking to move ASAP, but am I have to make do with what I've got so I'm trying to make him as happy as I can

Nadia became very agressive when she was kept in at a yard that had no turn out in the winter, nothing could keep her busy long enough. We then moved yards and she got injured and had to go on box rest, I could go through all that again so I made a stable size pen out in the field next to a couple of other quiet horses who were penned off, seemed to do the trick.
