Having a saddle fitting dilemma, I've tried a saddle on today that is perfect in all ways except I think is too short. Hes relatively long backed and croup high although should hopefully level out this year. The saddle is 17" fairly straight cut. He had an 18" ideal gp previous to this but is now too narrow. to be honest an 18" still looks short on him. I'm petite at 5'1 so seat size isn't a problem for me as such. How do you manage with your long backs/saddles? I will be getting a fitter out in the next few days to check it.ill try and post a pic

I had 16.5 inch dressage saddle on my 17.1 WB :) Im small (and already had the saddle!). He wasn't long backed but I bet he'd have taken an 18 inch should I have wanted to.

Unless you are looking to show the horse and therefore create the optical illusion of it having a normal length back by fitting a longer saddle, then fit the seat of the saddle to you.
