those with snow on arena

If ours wasn't frozen under the snow, then yes!

If the school thaws before the snow goes, I plan to harrow it so should be fine to use then.

my boy was lunged yesterday on it and had a lesson today - didn't brave canter because that's a work in progress as it is, but apart from that no problems at all :)

I'm wondering if i'm just wimping out as keep seeing pics of people riding in it! I'm thinking vaseline his hooves and shouln't ball up? Then could attempt to lunge?

Rode on it yesterday no problems while it was snowing! Very deep from all the moisture but its rubber and sand and people have been turning out in it so well turned over.

Have been lunging the other one on it

I must say that its not slippy on the snow at all and no ice present and was on a sure footed animal - wouldnt have risked even crossing the yard to get to the menage with the mare!!

To be honest had the lights been working would have set up a grid with a small fence as was fine. We just splashed through and got some great exercise in having been stabled for 5 days!

I lunged and rode my boy in it after the first snow last Monday and Tuesday. I vaselined his feet and picked them out after lunging but after riding didn't need to. After the snow at the weekend I took him in there to do some groundwork and it was so hard to walk in and balled up really badly so I have avoided it since! I only have one more week of my months holiday left so I am hoping this snow goes soon!

I find that it helps to not pick their feet out before you go in the arena (obviously remove any stones, but if there's any bedding etc in them leave it be) then it doesn't ball :) I haven't had any problems at all with the snow and he's been ridden and lunged in it throughout. Ice is a different story, but snow isn't slipperly if it's proper snow :)

Mixed thoughts then. I'm thinking that he was fine when he went in for a leg stretch and hoon about the other day, so should be ok to lunge in walk and trot. Will have a walk round the school myself first and triple check its ok and definitely thawed underneath.

I would lunge on it, but I take by hoof pick in with me and every 5 circuits or so I stop and pick his feet out as the snow tends to ball up in his feet. It's a bit of a pain but even if George is very excited and hooning about he will stop quietly and pick each foot up for me :D

I tried to do a bit of schooling while trying out a new saddle but my mare just kept trying to jump the snow at the trot and the canter was very "uphill" with her trying to jump the snow, lol! It didn't help that the snow kept balling up (even with leaving her feet unpicked) so will try the vaseline.
