Bit of background... I keep my pony (14hh) at a RDA centre where I work. Over the summer we shut down for 3 weeks and all the ponies go on holiday - I needed to find a field for Merlin for 3 weeks and for various complicated reasons I ended up taking another pony with me as well (nice friend for Merlin so I didn't mind!) My OH's dad has a small holding and 'donated' a small paddock to my ponies.
Small holding, although safe, isn't really horse-designed. OH and I noticed a very swampy boggy patch at the bottom of the field that we felt would be safer fenced off. We bought some metal fence posts and some tape to do this.
Annoyingly friend-pony (who is only about 10.2hh) keeps walking under the fenced off section and grazing near the boggy patch. Isn't the end of the world as he isn't going into the bog - would probably be fine if he did TBH - but not being my pony I want to stop him.
I'm NOT prepared to buy a device to make the fence electric. These are about £100 and, on top of the cost of the posts and tape, make it a ridiculous sum to spend on what is now a 2 week holiday.
Anyone have any other cheap/free tips for keeping small ponies the right side of the fence.?
