Hi guys,
As well as suffering as yet in diagnosed lower back pain, I've been diagnosed with tennis elbow. I'm
Having Physio for my elbows, wear a clasp, Ice and rest them as much as poss and have a v sympathetic instructor who allows me to take regular breaks in our lessons (she also suffers from it which helps)
My Physio said it is very common in people who ride or drive a lot so wondered if anyone has any tips?
Any advice appreciated :)

I have had it on and off for years now - I call it 'poo pickers' elbow!!!

I take Ibuprofen when it is bad, and wear an elasticated bandage when lifting etc, but find it is ok when riding. I tried an elbow brace but found it more uncomfortable than the actual condition.

No advice really, so hope others may come up with some more suggestions.

Carring my driving whip set off mine .
My physio showed me how to massage it myself to release the tension and now I have an a exercise to do to build up the muscle strength .
I need to get the carriage out soon so then I'll see if it's all helped.

The trainer at the gym I used to go to showed me a couple of exercises to get relief - flat palm against a wall directly in front of you and push, or closed hand as though you are holding a screwdriver and rotate side to side. They did help - mine has pretty much eased now.

If using an elesticated bandage, do not wear it on the elbow itself. The elasticated bandage should go from wrist to just below the elbow joint! My doctor explained the reasoning behind this and it really does work!

Thanks for the advice! Got some exercises from my Physio today, and I'll try the ones you suggested Jill A. I'm also getting a cortisone injection into it in a few weeks time-anyone have any experience with this?

I too suffer with it and have done for about 2 years.I did have the elbow injected in November-the actual jab was fine but oh my god the pain about 2 hours later!.It seemed to work for about 6 weeks then the pain returned as badly as it was before-I had been told by a couple of people who had the jab that it doesn't work but really thought I was going to be the exception!. I did recall that I had seen some people wearing the tennis elbow cuff which sits just below the elbow, read up about them and looked online and got mine from Amazon.I can honestly say that the pain has gone,I wear it all day or when doing anything heavy or repetitive and have not suffered since. If you want anymore info about the one I got just message me.I swear by my cuff now.Good luck.

I use the strap thingy when mine flares up. It's perfect in that is stops it hurting but you can still use the arm AND it actually allows it to heal.

I got mine ironing :p Anybody who knows me, will know how funny that is :D

Yeah I've got a Vulcan cuff which has little pouches of air which was recommended by my Physio, it's really good. I wear it while I'm working in the yard, driving and riding however still In a quite bit of pain especially when I'm riding-taking up a contact seems to really anger it. so doc wants to try the injection. I'm hoping it'll help a bit even if its not a long term thing
