I have had to cut down on hay and hard feed as with the grass coming through he is looking rather round!!

I am thinking I should probably add a vitamin/mineral supplement as I know that the oldies don't absorb as much of the goodness from their feeds as they once did !

Does anyone have any good suggestions of which one might be best to look for?

I'm using a balancer for my veteran, but dodson and horrell have equi-bites and they are apparently a full vitamin and mineral supplement in treat form. I only use a balancer in the summer months or whilst there is plenty of grass about and the quantity is really small but covers his vit and min requirements.

Oooh thanks, will have to look for those - I use a small amount of treats for stretching exercises every day so they might be perfect !

yep they work perfectly for one of my boys who isn't a veteran but gets fat at the site of grass and could live on fresh air. He thinks he's getting treats!! I think they might be new.

D&H also do a Daily Vits and Mins supplement which my veteran gets. He also has Mollichaff Veteran Chaff as it's packed with mint and nettles and herbs and antioxidants but doesn't have many more calories than Dengie Hi Fi Lite, less sugar but a light coating of oil. It smells gorgeous and effectively hides the taste of anything nasty that has to go in the feedbowl! Also my boy's coat is so shiny you can see your face in it!
