Those with young children...

I would too flaxen. Where abouts are you? It's so hard surrounded by people who simply don't understand. My oh isn't too bad but I rely on his mum for childcare and she's pretty vocal with her opinions about riding!!! Even a horsey but horseless friend with children would be a help to me. Pm me if you want.

Well I've just spoken to the lady who sounded lovely. She's got an old boy ex eventer IDxTB. and a youngster TB, or might be the other way round. She's looking for someone to hack out with mainly but I could school if I wanted to. I've to her weekends mainly and I'm popping in after work on Thursday to have a look round!! Very exciting. I just have to find some boots now as all of mine got trashed when our house flooded last year.

Thanks. Keeping realistic. If I manage once a week and maybe stopping off for a bit on a Thursday for jobs I'll be over the moo and hubby will hopefully be ok with that.

We already do nursery amymay when I work and can't afford any more time yet. That's where she is on a Thursday so I'm hoping to rejig my hours at work and leave earlier than i already do. I finish at 3.30 with a 25 min drive, although the yard is on the way home and have to be at nursery by 5.45 really. i'll ask the boss on Tuesday and see what he says. Even 30 mins earlier will make it easier!!

That sounds really promising Atlantis! Enough of a "fix" to keep you in the horse world but not so much commitment as to stress you out. Hope it all goes well.

Yeah it does sound right i think. She has someone else at the beginning of the week. It's nice to know that she's a really nice lady not an unknown entity, if you know what I mean.

Well I went to look round and ended up riding the old boy. 21 yr old well schooled and a lovely boy but maybe a little lazy and needs very still quiet hands. I ended up doing some flying changes so can't be that bad. Last did one of those 15 years ago I don't think they were pretty lol!! Really lovely lady too and her husband. I easily fitted a tide in after work!! I'm like this right now. 😃😃😃😃

Great to hear your first visit and ride went well.
I have agonised over selling vs keeping my horse and I have almost the perfect situation TO have a horse, so I can imagine the turmoil most mums face. OP, I hope it continues to work out, sounds like a lovely arrangement.

Flaxen, I feel really bad reading your post. I have nothing more constructive to say than your child is very lucky to have you and will realise that when the time comes and you WILL have some horsey happiness again I hope. x

I know babymare doesn't it sound fab. I'm going to see a friend tomorrow and have a play on her horses too and she's arranged for Florrie to sit on a Shetland there. Soooooo excited about that too!!

Thanks boolavogueDC I'm really pleased it went well too.

And Flaxen I agree with her too. I felt so desperate last year and then realised that you don't get the time back with your children. I ended up embracing the time I had with Florrie. I found myself reassessing this spring when it's nice to ride but I wouldn't have rang this lady if I hadn't been pushed. Happy horsie times will come again. Try to get your horsey fixes through spectating and take your LO along with you. We did that a lot last year and Florrie loved it. We're going to badminton on Sunday too. Maybe a small pony will come along or a yard that welcomes kids. You don't know what's round the corner. Big hugs!!!

Jx
