Noticed the past week the temp has dropped at night. My TB is currently nicely covered and has plenty of grass. After watching country file it mentioned a touch of frost this week  am thinking of putting her turn out rug on with a filling, she currently wears a LW no fill sheet at the moment and seems fine during the day.
What are your wimpys in at night now?

My lad's been in at night for the last month so I can make sure he is eating enough and is warm enough. He wintered very badly last year so doing everything in power to prevent it happening again.

last winter she was stabled and came out looking very well, however the year before she was wintered out but was thin to start with and then got colic so it was a slippery slope down to a very thin TB who was always cold so had to stable her - infact she didnt look covered until mid summer that year.

Now shes out of work till spring, shes 6 (a bit more filled out and grown up) and a very healthy weight.

BH is out tonight in his fleece with his light weight over the top. He seems warm enough in the morning and isn't dropping weight but if we're getting a frost he'll have to go into something warmer!

The tb in my field has been having some nights in a full neck medium weight for the last few weeks, lightweight all other nights. My study welsh x arab is getting old and feeling it a bit already, so she's in her lightweight at night, days when its wet. Will be looking at her medium sooner than ever before me thinks....

My chubby TB is out with no rugs and I'm not intending to put him in any for a while. His winter coat is coming through, his hair isn't standing up and he's not shivering. Just been up the field to check them for the night and he's happily grazing away, totally unconcerned. He must be the exception to the norm as he always feels warm and never seems particularly concerned about coming in at night so I'm going to leave him out as long as possible too. Fortunately I have plenty of grass which will keep him going for ages and when that loses its goodness he can come in for his hay at night.

cobbysmum, my little TB (the grey one in siggy) is never cold. I only don't mention her being naked as she is currently in at the horsepital so isn't wearing anything.

The heaviest rug she made it into last winter was a medium weight and that was when it was -15. Mostly she was naked!

Mine is in a standard neck MW tonight, he was in a LW last night as it was a bit warmer. Some days he's naked but if it's a bit cloudy and cool he's in a LW during the day as well. When it's been peeing it down he's worn his m/w as the rain really gets to him.
I check on met office twice a day to plan what rugs to put on him.
I'll probably start bringing him in at night in October when the nights draw in. I hate winter!!

Mine has no rug on. There's racehorses in the field opposite worth £4k + per horse unrugged and an unrugged foal (about 4 months old) in our neighbouring fields.

Last night was out in a fly rug, tonight it's forecast heavy showers so is in a full neck no fill sheet. She is growing a coat and if I wasn't trying to put weight on her she would be naked!

Out 24/7 with fly rug which will come off in next few weeks and he will be naked until he comes in in November (He is only rugged as he is so dirty)!!

He is a TB with plenty of covering!

My horse is out during the day with nothing on, however at night he has a cooler&rain sheet as temp just drops in the morning to about 5 degrees!
He will only be rugged minimally till his winter coat starts to come through - he hasn't even started moulting yet
He is 3/4tb 1/4 id

Out every night naked at the moment, if it's raining really heavily he will get a no fill rainsheet but that's all. The rain seems to have caused a flush of grass and he's a bit porky.

My TB is out naked, even with the heaviest of rain we've had he's been stood grazing away quite happily. Last year he was in at night as the rest of the yard horses came in and he stressed being out alone, this year he is out by himself with horses in neighbouring fields and is very chilled out. I am planning leaving out naked for as long as possible.

picked up my new horse on Saturday my first TB for 20 years . I had all WB's and ISH's since then I been laughing at myself I forgot how thin skinned they can be he is wearing a medium weight outdoor rug and a decent fairly heavy medium weight at night and he was border line for needing a heavier one in the stable last night god knows what he'll be needing by Febuary.

Both mine are out totally naked during the day, but on the colder nights I've been putting a lightweight rainsheet on when it's been forecast to rain. But it's quite cool and a bit windy here today, and I've bought a lightweight with 100g fill in from Swish Equestrian, so I think I might put that on the mare tonight and the middleweight one on the elderly gelding.

It completely depends on the horse. My dutch warmblood is very fine coated and feels the cold. She has had a lightweight turnout on for the last week. When I brought her in yesterday to ride, I took her rug off and she started to shiver!!

Both mine are still out 24/7 we have enough grass for them to pick at but they are getting 2 x feeds a day each of chaff, minerals and speedi beet. I am hoping to leave them out untill at least mid october but that entirely depends on the weather. If the weather gets significantly colder I will put the lightweigths with neck covers on. Its not cold enough for a medium weight yet!

Mine aren't rugged yet and if the weather is as severe as last winter, riding will be very limited, so they won't be clipped and will remain fluffy, naked TB X 's.
Living out all year, they have plenty of hay and good shelter and can move around, so unless they lose condition, I'll keep the rugs off.

My mares in her lw. Though was up the yard the other night at about 12.30am and it was FREEZING. i kid you not, i could see my breath. So she went out in her mw then. The ex racer in the field next to mine is naked, but i have to admit hes dropping weight.

Im going to give it about a month and if this weather doesnt get better shell be wearing her mw :)

My tb has no rug on at all at the moment, because i'm trying to get her a little bit more hardy. But i'm going to put her light weight on soon

No rug, out 24/7 and will be as much as I can, then it'll be LW, then heavey and then bringing in at night and as late as I can all day. He's not so much of a wimp, but he sulks if I leave him out and then won't come in!

Our tb just wears a no fill LW turnout at night more as a preventative to losing weight. Also if we know it is going to rain he will wear his t/o rug for the same reason :)

I've had to put the heating on tonight its so cold!! TB is still looking fat and has a LW no fill on at the moment, although if its still this cool tomorrow night i may put her fill on........or even pop a fleece under her LW

All out with no rugs and no plans to rug anytime soon! have a tb, arab, part arab and mini shetland :)

The arab is usually wimpy, the part arab only wore a lightweight all last winter with prev owner and the mini goes naked as shetlands should :) The tb was rugged heavily last winter with previous owner but he is surprisingly tough and doesnt like rugs on!
