Our ISH mare bred a lovely foal in 2007 by Caretino Glory, and we are very thrilled with him ... but as she failed to get back into foal last year (long story, infection, etc ..) we are now looking at stallions to put her to for 2008. Fionn was a very big foal (AND he was her first), and she had a tear as a result, so we are thinking of going smaller TB stallion for the next foal, 'cos want to give her as easy a time as possible. We are looking to breed a future event type, as Beth was eventing successfully before a tendon injury put her out of competition.
The stallions that I'm considering are Lemay (Phoenix National Stud); Jendali (lovely looking US TB now standing at Igguldon Farm Stud); Valesco and (needs no introduction!) Take It 2 The Limit, both at Hartpury.
Beth has fairly flat feet, so sound strong feet are going to be important in a stallion, and temperament also key (we'd like a carbon copy of Fionn, bold but incredibly trainable and sweet natured). Ideally something not above 16.1 ...
Sorry this so long, but would really value any thoughts on the above stallions, anyone who knows any of their offspring, and any other comments from the great well of experience on the forum! Its so incredibly useful in deciding who it might be worth going to visit at this point. Thanks guys!
