Got up the yard today, went to get Rock in from the field, all was fine he seemed fine, got him into the barn and started brushing him, and within 20minutes of being in the barn he had almost completely stopped breathing. Every breath he took his entire body convulsed and he was buckling at the knees. Immediately phoned the vet and took him outside and it eased, then as soon as he entered the barn it happened again. Was in tears when the vet arrived. He said he'd never seen a case as extreme as this. Rock's basically had a huge athsma attack brought on by the dust and flat air in the barn. Got vet coming out again tommorow to do an endoscope and lung wash. Will go from there really.
At the yard i'm at hes not allowed out 24 7 so i'm now frantically looking for somewhere to go on grass livery, to move in the next couple of days.
Wish me luck and please HUGE healing vibes for Rocks, am really worried about him

Poor Rocky, what a terrible thing to happen, it must have been really terrifying. I bet you were practically buckling at the knees yourself, weren't you?

Fingers crossed you will find somewhere really quickly, as regards the grass livery.
Hugs to you & Rocky! xx

Is there no way your YO can let you turn out 24/7 it is exceptional circumstances to say the least!

Whereabouts are you??

Bloomen heck
That would've been terrifying.
My little pony Trixie had an "Asthma attack" (or atleast thats all three different vets could come up with) in a period of really hot weather in the spring. She was simply being lead up a path and had very similar symptoms. It was awful. But its never happened again and that was a good 4 years ago.

I hope Rocky is ok soon.

Unfortunately no matter what i said YO cannot make an exception as its in her contract that no horses are allowed out over night

very frustrating as hes in the barn now but a lot perkier than he was.
Have already found two possible places to take him so will look at them tommorow and if either are any good move him the following day
Absolute nightmare

Ask next door hun!!You will need to speak to the lady who rents the yard instead of my dad's OH!I will try and get her number if you want? Not sure if she will have a space but worth a try? Also clamp kiln is out 24hrs in summer-is nice there (as you know!)

How horrendous! So frightening for you, and for him. I hope you can find somewhere asap, where he can live out. Hope the vet's treatment sorts him out, too! xx

What a horrible thing to have happen. Must have been very very distressing for you.
I hope you find another suitable yard. Main thing is, at least Rocky is OK.
Take care.

What a real fright for both of you.
Please keep us posted on his progress and the results from the endescope etc tomorrow.
Good luck finding somewhere suitable to turn him out hun.

Thinking of you.
