I have been lurking for a few weeks and thought it was time to introduce myself, I had horses years ago before I had my children, but unfortunately after having my son, it was clear I was not going to have enough time to continue riding due to my son being autistic. fast forward 14 years and I have finally forced the authorities to provide a specialist placement for my son where he has settled really well. I now find I have time on my hands and have been fortunate enough to home a rescue horse. All we know about her is she is 15'2hh and rising 9. She is a trotter cross. She arrived to me a week ago and was very fidgety and worried, for the first couple of days I just spent time with her in her field and stable. On her third day she stopped eating her bed and began to eat her hard food and hay. She is very chilled out and working nicely in hand doing basic groundwork. We have a long way to go with her but just wanted to say hi and introduce both of us.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

Welcome back to the world of horses. I had a long break and came back to riding. You soon feel like you've never been away!

Your mare looks lovely, I bet you'll have loads of fun with her!

Hi, thanks for the welcome, her name is Pru, she is lovely has settled really nicely now, had the farrier today for the first time and the chiropractor is out next week just to give her a once over before I continue her education, i want to know she is ok and not sore at all if that makes sense

Welcome. Your mare looks lovely and I wish you all the best with her. Good luck for the chiropractor next week.

Just a quick update for you guys, When Pru arrived she weighed 450kg, weight today is 489kg so steadily building up. Been doing a lot of inhand work and she is doing brilliantly. She now has full tack on and today worked with sand legs on. She no longer waves her head around in the sky when i put her bridle on. Had the chiropractor last week who worked on her sore spots and its given her a boost. My yard manager laid over her today and she just stood there. I am so pleased how she is doing and love her to bits. A couple of pictures from today.

Thank you, as we dont know her background, we have been treating her as if she was a 4 year old and just starting her again. She is so chilled and kind, always has her ears forward

yes faracat i would much rather do her slowly and correctly instead of trying to do everything at once and ruining her.

Thank you Lily, she is very sweet and gentle
:)

Just a quick update regarding my girl. I have spent 2 weeks lunging and long reining with tack and sand legs. She is taking it all in her stride and our bond is solid. Yesterday I sat on her and walked a few steps up the yard. Again she did not seem bothered and I felt very safe on her so brilliant progress and I am so proud of her.
