Thought I'd jumped a PN course @ Kelsall.....

THought I'd done really well to jump around the PN course at Kelsall Hill today in the Intermediate RC Quals.

They weren't much smaller that the open but not as wide. But when i checked BE website Kelsall only go up to OPN so I can't have. It was certainly a lot bigger than the 2 intros i did.

Feeling Slightly deflated now as was going to go up to PN next event

Hey there Boris. I was, as usual, your friendly commentator/controller today, although alarmingly I don't remember you going, perhaps the middle of the day becomes a blur.

Anyway, you did a mix of PN and Intro fences. I think fences 1/2/3 were PN, as was 5/6/7/8/9. 10 was below intro in actual fact, as the original Intermediate route followed a line taken by the intro's previously, but I've never quite worked that out because the intro water always seemed more difficult than the PN. Anyway, 11/12/13/14/15/16/17/18/19&20 were all PN. 4 was a softer option (with the Open's jumping the PN route). You can console yourself though that the corner was the PN corner and many of the PN riders, including many pros, took the option there in the spring. Its a reasonable track, although kelsall has softened off a bit since the first year, now fairly comparable to most PN's. SHould be pleased though, plenty to have to think about! Don't feel deflated by it, if you're going PN next, then just see it as a perfect step between Intro and PN.

I did the Intermediate yesterday as well as having done the PN there in May. Todays course was just a slightly scaled down version of May PN, the fences around the water and the water itself was softer - the PN course did the 2 boats that were in the Open course and the brush at the double after that had been cut down a lot. Other than that it was all pretty similar so I think you'd be more than ready for PN if you coped fine around kelsall yesterday.

I use Bold as an easy PN step up, it is a nice straightforward course, nothing out of the ordinary. The SJ ring is usually tiny ( and I was on a 14.2hh) and the working in was full of dropping where the horses are turned out!

TBH I dont really like Janet (a bit of history with her) but I go to the event because it serves a purpose and is only about 15 miles from me. I might do the intro there with Sov
