I suspect once it's fully grown it will be a nice sort for its breed. It's probably only a yearling in that photo.

I don't want to sound like the fun police, but I think it is a bit off to post a photo of someone else's horse, purely with the intention of inviting rude comments.

Yes, I suppose it is a bit un-kind but I think these ponies which are so badly conformed should never have been bred in the first place, as, I suspect, the parents were of poor conformation as well.

It seems to be the fashion these days to produce Welsh ponies and cobs specifically for in-hand showing, where it would be nigh impossible to place a saddle upon it's back. Champion prize-winners at top shows seem to have been bred with a very short, almost sway back which does nothing for the overall picture and certainly can't be very good for it's health in later life.

My apologies to who-ever the owner is but I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole!!!

Very sad.

I totally agree with you there Dun4, the results of indiscriminate breeding are very sad. Doesn't mean it's ok to rubbish the individual examples on an open forum though!

Why poor thing?? It is clearly young, and is growing. You never seen a young horse bum high???

There's nothing wrong with it!

yep, just a baby with lots of growing to do

they can look bloody awful at times and still end up looking stunning

when they are this age it is very difficult and unfair to try and assess how they're going to turn out.

it's also quite rude to just assume the parents had poor conformation too

I disagree. If 'twas mine, I'd be concerned that its croup is that much higher than its wither.

I think it is wrong to post this with no knowledge of a) the parents confo (making snide comments about that when you know nothing of them is definitely not on) b) the owner and c) even how old it is!
