Congratulations on your new horse, he looks sweet.

Have you had him vetted and checked. Has his back and tack been checked, and saddle fitted correctly as I only mention as he has his ears pinned back in every photo which can sometimes be a sign of discomfort or pain. This was the first sign with my mare, her ears were pinned back which is unusual for her and so I stopped riding had saddler out who confirmed what I thought that saddle was wrong fit due to her changing shape. Just something to think about but there may be other reasons. BTW don't want to offend you or put a dampener on your new boy just thought it best to ask so hope you don't take it the wrong way.

Its ok I appreciate addvice. His saddle has been fitted :) But he didnt get vetted /: But I will get him checked over by a vet soon. Thanks. They arnt always back but i never noticed they were back in all 3 :O x

I think he's gorgeous, just my type. But I too, noticed the pinned ears and that would concern me. He does not look relaxed and listening to the rider as ears like that are more floppy and off to the side rather than tensely pinned back. OP looking at him, he has good conformation etc so hopefully it's not anything too worrying. It may even be purely psychological, but he is worried about something.

Might just be a coincidence his ears are back in all three!! My last ex racer used to swish his tail all the time, people say thats a sign of discomfort etc but it was just his way of going, he liked to swish and swing his backend ;) But no harm in getting him checked ... Anyway, I like him :) Looks a bit skinny in the last pic but might just be the way its been taken. Cant beat a nice wee Tb, good luck with him hes stunning :)

Yous were right :( Thomas had discomfort in both his stifles :(. He had an opperation and the vet said it was best to get another horse if possible for what i intended doing :( Thomas later had to go back to his old owner as a swap for my current horse:( miss him loads but hes happy in a hacking home !!

No I would say he's listening to the rider, he looks relaxed, but I would say the bloke to big and to heavy.

I'm neurotic about over weight riders and see some pics on here that make me wince but no way is that bloke too heavy for the horse (we'll skip over the issue of his outfit - that deserves a thread all by it's own self!).

Do you have any piccies of your new horse???

Its good that you found out about his past and realised he could not do what you would want him for............I am sure he will thank you for that and in return he is in a nice hacking home.

I'm so sorry to read that Thomas has this problem, but it's great that he's now in a happy hacking home. Good luck with your new horse. :-)

Nice enough horse, bloke needs a bit of style counselling though - shorts and long socks - nice .... Did he swap his sandals for those trainers before he got on?
