Was wondering if anyone had a horse who didnt like the Pessoa training aid.

Every time I put it on my horse he charges off and bucks like a mad thing. It is not on too tight or too loose. He settles down eventually and works well but dont know why he doesnt like it.

If anyone has had the same problem how did they sort it out.

My RI's horse hates her but my boys loves it, I think some horses just don't like it, it there anything else you could try? Maybe just get in plenty of practice with it and see if he gets used to it

Hi, how is your horse to lunge generally ie in tack and side reins? If he charges off and prats about, I would concentrate on improving his way of going and obedience in his normal tack before introducing the Pessoa. My two TBs were fine with the Pessoa, never had an issue with the sheepskin round bottom and it did help hugely with strengthening their toplines. I did have a WB who hated it but he wasn't as submissive on the lunge anyway so after being pulled around arena with him broncing more and more rather than settling down, I decided (wisely I think!) to do his lunging in side reins and leave Pessoa out of the equation!

He is a gem to lunge normally. He works off voice commands and just generally does as he is told with no problems.. Good to know that some horses just dont like it and some do. Was beginning to think he was a raving looney!! Will maybe try a couple of weeks lunging him in it twice a week to see if he improves and if not, just stick to side reins.

Thanks everybody xx;):D:D:D:D:)
