Thoughts on sharer ad.

I've finally decided to bite the bullet and look for a sharer.

Just as a disclaimer. This is not an advert to sell, so it shouldn't breech t&c. I hope! :)

Any sort of crit welcome! Tell me if I've waffled on a bit. Well my mum wrote most of it ;) haha.

Rider wanted to hack out my handsome 14.1hh 7yo haflinger gelding.

Sunny is bombproof, will hack out alone and in company, not fazed by anything.

However due to the nature of the breed, sunny would not be suitable for a child. Not because he has any vices, but because the breed are strong willed and need a firm rider.

Sunny can jump up to 2ft 9ins and is a lovely pony, kept on a lovely yard in Leicestershire.

Owner will be around most of the time as 2 other of out horses are kept on the yard.

Thanks, let me know, I don't know if it is a bit waffly. And I'm worried the middle paragraph may put people off? But as I say, he never does anything wrong, but he will take the utter pee and go as slowly as possible without a firm rider.

Advice and crit please!

Why dont you put something like " competent Adult rider wanted " Then you dont have to say no children in the ad.
You can then assess potential sharers ability when they apply.

Ah, thank you. :) The thing is I don't to rule out 16-18 year olds either and don't know if I just put adult rider they may not give me a call! It's so difficult. :p
 
Good to mention what is 'lovely' about the yard (school available/floodlights/off road hacking/tearoom/friendly ppl/near local competitions/etc, etc).

When a sharer is looking they have to get on with the owner and the yard as well as the horse... so, in some respects more difficult than buying.

Also, if an ad says 'wanted to hack out' I'd assume that the owner *only* wants the rider to hack... so it isn't clear why the jumping is mentioned later?

I know you want an adult but you don't want a very big one so maybe 'would suit lightweight adult rider or older teenager'?

Would love to try a Haffie but sadly you're a little far from me!
 
I would put a (sensible and realistic) maximum rider weight on there. The reason being, I look at that and think what a nice horse he sounds, but at 14.1 is he a bit little for me (adult rider, although not overweight) - or as a Haffie, would he be be ok? I'd um and ah a bit about calling, just in case. By stating a limit, you will hopefully be saved from any awkward situations if someone who is far too large turns up.:)
