Did anyone else go? I have to say, I really really enjoyed it - you can't beat seeing the stallions in the flesh. Was sorry not to see them jump but never mind. Funny how a couple that I thought I'd love didn't make me go 'wow' in person and some I hadn't even considered made my jaw drop.

I absolutely loved Marco du Fot - I thought he was stunning! And very impressed by Chilli Morning too, he was not nearly as heavily built as I was expecting with a super gallop and gave me a good giggle when he gave a spooky Grafenstolz a lead past the big scary Land Rover!!! I also liked Revolution a lot - will look him up.

Who did everyone else like?

We took our young stallion Romarnic Ranger today and i would like to say thankyou to all the people who took the time to come accross to say how much they liked him!

It was very kind of them and made the journey worth while!

I went to see Chilli Morning really and as you say, he is obviously whippit fit!! He had an amazing gallop!! I did like Grafenstoltz too, but he is such a different stamp of horse. I was also impressed with Wish upon a Star and Up with the Lark. Guess what though, I watched the 5 year old finals and I have to say, my favourite out of all the stallions was Billy Be Cool!!

What does anyone else think?

really annoyed, i was sitting in the stands ready to video it at 12.25 for 12.30, the time it said in the programme it would be on. sat and waited, and waited... and had to leave at 12.55 as had a meeting i could not change. so, i missed it all. v sorry to everyone, i said i'd video it and i would have if it had been on time.

I so enjoyed the parade especially when they were a little spooky, well done to the riders for sitting the spooks.

I also enjoyed seeing Grafenstoltz and also the hanoverians - lovely.

I enjoyed it and particularly was pleased with how Grafenstolz moved as we used him on our mare this year. The foal is due at the end of May all being well.

Revolution in my opinion is certainly worth looking up, especially if you are wanting to put quality into a partbred mare. His thoroughbred bloodlines are fantastic. I now have two youngsters, a yearling and a three year old by Revolution, both full brothers, both gained first premiums at futurity grading at Richmond this year, and the yearling won the event horse breeding (yearlings) at Bramham this year. Although it is tempting to try a different stallion, I plan to use Revolution next year to see if I can finally get a filly. Why fix something that is not broken!

Kannan was there, yes. I'd never seen him before so was expecting to be wowed, but he wasn't 'to my taste' in the flesh. Even though he's producing the results we all want as a sire, he just didn't catch my eye.

I didnt watch the parade but did watch them warming up in their lorry park (we were in the BYEH park). Made interesting viewing, which ones were got on and trotted off up to the collecting ring and which ones were lunged and lunged and lunged and lunged.......

It's surprising what goes on behind the scenes at Stallion Parades, as we discovered.
It's not unusual to hear of stallions being doped before their display, and one we saw had to be withdrawn after the poor devil fell asleep when being ridden..!
We underestimated the effect of the atmosphere ourselves the first time, our normally dead sensible chap was horrified by the close proximity of the crowd, the speakers set inside the tiny arena that blasted out at head height etc, and refused a cross pole when first presented. He soon realised it was ok and performed, and next day was totally at ease with it all.
It's understandable for young stallions to get incredibly excited so that wouldn't put me off, having to lunge something for ages to settle it isn't something I'd want to see in a competition animal however.

I would just like to comment on the fact that some horses were lunged before being ridden. Perhaps we all aught to accept that ALL of these stallions are both covering/collecting and being ridden/competed. this is quite an achievement in terms of temperament and perhaps we should applaude these stallions for coping (whether exuberant or not) with the atmosphere within the arena. If they have to be lunged for ten minutes to show themselves off to the best then so be it. Being one of the riders of a stallion, I fully understand the pressures expected on everyone involved. If i had to get on a stallion that had been lunged to allow myself a safe ride then so be it. I only have one neck!!
Congratulations for all the riders for coping so well with these stallions and to the studs for allowing their stallions to come and be dispalyed at the end of a long hard stud season. I dont think the audience appreciate the mamouth effort that sometimes has to go into this.
Thanks to all riders, studs and stallion owners for allowing enjoy the display. And thanks to the organisors for allowing us to come.
