Thoughts on these ponies

From the original four I like 2 & 4. The way the advert of 3 is written puts me off. But Nemo is my favourite :) he just looks a nice person, I also like George. If you really want a connie, stick to your guns they are lovely and make fantastic ponies IMO

Ooh, ooh.
The perks of the fact I was looking for a Connie for ages...
The two ones on preloved have been advertised for ages. Nemo hasn't gone down in price at all, in all the time he has been up.
The other I'm not sure on his price changing, but he's super overpriced and always has been (hence why I didn't go to see him).

I like george the best. Dun is a popular colour so you may end up paying a premium for them. Anything over height or that might go over height will be cheaper. Nemo looks sweet as well I expect he will take longer to sell as he is over height.

I would also consider new forests too. Originally I was looking for a connie and I could not find anything I liked that was less than about 5k which was more than I wanted to spend. This was about 7 years ago so the market was different. In the end I bought a new forest, he can do everything that a connie can do, is a nice bay colour and so easy to keep clean. His uncle took supreme M&M at HOYs this year and his other uncle was 3rd at HOYS in the NF class so my pony has top breeding. Yet because New Forests are not such a fashionable breed he cost half as much as a similar quality connie would have cost. NF are a bit of undiscovered treasure but I think that will soon change and their prices will rise.

Thanks for this hihosilver!!! After reading that thread it definitely isn't something I'd have the confidence to do. It is something I'd maybe fancy in the future to get another one day, maybe!!

I am looking at other breeds too. Namely new forest and highland. Just seem drawn to the connies.

Thanks all for your input. I really appreciate it.

A decently bred Connemara from Ireland isn't that much cheaper (the really good jumping ponies go for serious money. There is more choice though.

Agree with the comments on class 3 however check why he is a class 3. When I bought my 4 yr d he was graded s3 as a colt and never upgraded to class 1 even though he was eligible (both parents class 1 and he is just over 14.1hh and is a tiny bit bum high at just over 6 yrs old). I got him measured over here by a vet who also checked conformation (not LHC) and sent off the forms with his passport and got him upgraded. Cost about £40 iirc and I had ownership changed at the same time.
