Looks a nice sort. Bit back at the knee, perhaps, but that could be the angle of some of the photo's - none of which are brilliant.

Is he near you?

Looks a nice tolerant sort.

From what I could see through all the tack

About 2 hours away, I am in West Yorkshire he is in the North. But it is roughly the same distance and time I spend coming home from uni, so no problems with that.
I have asked for some pictures so I can see his conformation better, looks a bit base narrow on some too. I was just wondering if anyone thought there was anything 'wrong with him'.
I obviously won't be trying to compete at grand prix level so if his confo is ok to jump, school, hack and occasionaly compete then all should be fine.

Nice looking but I'm not sure about the videos. I kept thinking that you'd see some ridden ones but it seemed to be everyone they know having a sit on him but no-one actually leaving the yard. I wasn't that impressed by the few ridden ones and he looked to be rushing the jump a little.

If it was me I might well ring up and ask more about him but wasn't that impressed

Now, remember I'm a cynical sort but here goes;
1. Fairly ok conformation...not wonderful...some good points...some bad (shoulder for example)
2. Looks like a nice person, kind eye...but clever and sharp.
3. Youtube is good for videos...so why nothing but stills? And no stills of him cantering or jumping?
4. If you count how many different bits he is pictured in, for a 4 yr old, I'd worry - Nathe, Continental, Fulmer, with a flash. Generally I don't change bits unless there is a problem to be solved.
5. He seems to wear a lot of breastplates/breastgirths, sometimes together.
6. When ridden, both he and the rider appear tense.

I suspect he is a nice boy, but going through a difficult teenage phase.
But then I'm cynical...and could be completely wrong.

Dwi I have emailed asking more about him (only due to very bad phone signal).
They said he hasn't been jumping very long as he is only 4, found another video of him over a smaller fence which he took slower.
I agree about that there isn't any picture of him off the yard, may get some when they send me some more over.

Don't bother if you're 2 hours away - your new horse will be around the corner.

It looks nice, but not that nice......

I would be lucky if a found a decent one nearer me, all the ones near me are complete babies or are injured or have a lot of vices. Can just imagin it would take years for one to turn up

Looks sweet enough, long in the cannon though and not much bone. Seems to be owned by nupties, and as S has said don't like the fact he has been ridden in a whole tackroom of equipment (spec regarding bits!) but there may be a legitimate reason/no reason just nupty owners! I would have a look though if doable, although think he should be less money....

Isn't this the same horse out on a little wonder?

Although Id wonder why there was a bloke walking alongside...

One of her other video's (luckily of a different horse) looks erm.... interesting. Love the way the saddle ends up almost going over the ponies head at the very end

I'm sure it's the same horse in some of her other videos, and if you want me to be quite honest he doesn't look sound behind. Would also be worried about quite how much he has been affected by just about every conceivable gadget known to horse or man having been put on him...

i would personally be put off by the fact he has been raced, seems to me he is doing a lot at 4 or is it just me????i like to let them grow and mature before doing too much with them, not a lot of bone either which would personally put me off.

Thanks for all the opinions. Be as honest as you like.
I haven't been put off by the amount of gadgets as he may not need them.
They are ment to be sending me a video later tonight of him been ridden today.

ISH_Mad did you think that about him setting off around the corner in the jumping video? I thought he looked a bit iffy but thought it was just me.

Foxviewstud, I have known more 4yros do a lot more.

He is also not sold with any tack.

Hi Yorkshire Yearling, yes I did. There's something not right, or at least there wasn't at that particular time. Just worries me how he may have been held down with gadgets which could in turn have caused some physical issues with him being so young.

Is there anything else you've got your eye on? Not saying you shouldn't buy him by the way, but think there may be other nice horses out there for you to have a look at possibly?

With regards to the gadgets- he only has side reins on when lunged and a martingale, the other item of tack is a breasplate. He looks like he was lunged before he was ridden- hence the martingale, breastplate and side reins.
I would be put off by the fact that most of the youtube pics are stills with just one short video, also the fact that on the hacking out vid he has some one walking on the outside of him, when he stands on the road he is ok for a bit but then starts pawing the ground and fidgeting about. His conformation is average.

I wouldn't be put off because he has raced?!? lots of fab horses are ex-racers like Stunning and Ensign to name a couple.

I'd be worried that one video only appears to be a month old and is called "my new horse" so I'd wonder why it's for sale so soon unless she is a dealer?

I don't think 2hrs is that far to go to see a horse (I travelled 8hrs + from Scotland to Hereford to see my newest horse (ex-racer!))

ETA I replied to the wrong person; still can't figure everything out on here!

I don't think the horse in the video of him out on a 'wander' with the man beside is him as the white sock is on the opposite leg! lol

I think he looks sweet, like you said your not looking to do high level competeing with him.

I agree with shiraz. I wouldn't be put of with an ex-racer. All 3 of mine are and they turned out fine!

Good luck in finding a new horse
