Thoughts on this pony

Doesn't look like a 6yo connie to me.... Maybe that's just me? Do her pasterns look a bit long on her fronts too? Also think she will grey out as if she was a black roan the roaning wouldn't be on her face

Ring and have a chat with the seller. It's a dealers yard, although from what I've heard they are pretty honest about the horses they sell - could be worth it at such a low price. In any case, I would have it vetted fully before considering, apparant bargain or not.....

I agree with Love...Doesn't look like a 6 year old at all. Not overly keen on her pasterns either.

Maybe go and see the pony and have a proper look - as photos don't give the whole "picture" of a horse. And as MB says, get it vetted if you do decide to go ahead.

I wouldn't be particularly keen if that's her as a 6 year old. Fair enough 3 or under. Also not sure she's entirely conny, looks like a bit of cob in there too or something. As someone has said her pasterns look long but looks like she needs seen by a good farrier.

Well I would not go there.
When you view it if it persistently stands in that stance don't buy it.
Agree, woud be very concerned if that it her normal way of standing, coud just be that the advertiser likes that look though  and so has deliberatly chosen pics that show it.
I would go and see, she could be lovely, you really cant tell that much from a couple of pictures, and get her vetted if you like her.

It's not a particularly good example of a connie (IMO) it's pasterns are long as are it's feet, obviously it's totally underdone nutritionally and muscularly. Ultimately it will go grey though this dark at six it make take a while. Some TLC and she might turn out okay if she's cheap enough to take a chance? Says she's passported but with who?

Could just have been taught to stand that way, some see it as desirable for showing. IMHO there's enough there to warrent a look & see how it moves etc. Also think it will end up grey. If horses are unrugged, ie chilly in winter (c/f being rugged), I have found it slows down the greying out. You find they go white first over areas that get hot, like the head - brain has large blood supply or where large blood vessels are close to the skin, so cooler horses stay dark longer. If she's been kept as a broodmare for 3 years (ie 2 consecutive foals), then may well have been unrugged. As soon as she is kept warm, she will start to grey out quicker. It looks as though 2 foals have drained her reserves & account for lack of muscle. If she is sound & not a mental case, unlikely your friend after TLC & work would loose on her.

She does look younger than 6 in those photos and her feet aren't great but she's got a nice face and might be worth a viewing if you are local. She would look like a different horse after some good feeding, getting her feet sorted and mane etc trimming!

It is a part bred, poor confo, bred 2 foals for what reason is beyond me but a guess would be she proved tricky to ride away and was bred from.

Junk with a price that says buyer be very aware.
