I'm amused by the fact that you ask for advice, get it, then reply to one saying it was 'exactly' what you were looking for. You were not looking for advice you were looking for someone to endorse what you are doing.

PMSL! Glad I wasnt the only one that thought that too....
I think as said above it depends on what you are intending to do with your horse, how produced he needs to be (eg. is he going out in a field till hes four, when he will only do hacking, or are you producing him to be sold either privately or at auction, or graded as a 3yo?)
As for damage to the horses growth and muscles etc. I think it depends if it is used in the right hands with neccesary care taken.
I think maybe the best answer you are going to get is i you are not 100% sure, then dont risk it!

OK to bring on slowly but the filly is not my stamp of horse and is being sold so I need her to be up and going before advisertising her.

Intersting.
I think that I would be wary of any three year old 'up and going' tbh. Fine to have been sat on etc as in my previous post. But not sure that the rest is going to be hugely beneficial to a growing horse with immature musculature.

You may say this but we sell and break as a living, and now a days people want a 3 yr old walk, trotting and cantering, jumping a fence and hacking out, if they arnt they ask that they are doing this before they will view

Who'se they? Certainly people I know don't.
Me neither, in fact one reason why if looking again I'd look for a yearling or 2 year old as all the 3 year olds for sale have done far too much for my liking!
I have to say sadly it does seem to be what people pay for, so I can't really blame those who porduce horses for a living, one reason I'll never make a horse professional!
I wouldnt mind buying a 3-yr-old that had done a bit in a pessoa, but there are so many for sale now that are 3 and show pictures of them ridden over jumps, and as soon as I see that I dont look any further. Judging by the number of responses on here that have said absolutely no to the pesoa, looks like you could cut out a large section of your potential market by doing what people would consider "too much" with him.
Yard I used to work at with the racers and SJers used to work the 3 y/os in either the pessoa or chambon, or le gouge.
Although they were being loose schooled in the indoor so it s a pretty large circle and they worked by them selves....it was always on the lowest setting and not worked for long.Always had good results, horses learned great balance and generally good muscle development
ok guys, please dont fight - I've seen enough bitchy ness in yards to last me a lifetime! In my defense, when I said that was exactly what I was looking for ... there were 17 different points for views that I took in consideration and I was writing it to you all. Thank you all once again for your views. My horses are not pets, I complete at affiliated level and I am very competitive and I like to have them out competing at 4. I cannot expect a horse to complete in the Young Horse classes if it is stuck in a field until it is 6. They are fed the best and have good musle-tone and top-line and not underdoers... if this was the case they would be put back out with the rest of the youngsters to grow on ... some of you make me sound like I am 'EVIL'.. my horses are no hat-racks! I have also got a coming on 2yr old that is very highly bred and has a VERY active brain. Although he is busy eating us out of house and home at the moment he is left growing but I know that next year I will have to start doing something with him even if he is not matured ... all horses are different.
The filly is enjoying being a horse and having things done with her - I presume it is the breeding I have ordered, they are all competition breeds. She has only been on the lunge 3 times in which she is learning some voice commands before she is introduced to the long-reining .. don't worry we will be long reining soon and then she will be sat on and hacked out!
Thanks again for your comments - I re-phase this...- I have taken them all in consideration and it has helped me work out what the rest of the community are doing and using.
PS Mat - Gay Mafia!, your comments were very beneficial as they pointed out the strenghths and the weaknesses of using the aid.
I will pop another question on the forum this evening that will lead from this ... watch my space! I have only just joined the forum and finding it really helpful..
xx
another PS. I think I see why you thought I replied to one person .... there is a reply button to each comment ... I see. Apologies - Am I doing it right now?? lol!!
