You've put two 'http://' at the start of your address, that's why it's not working. Delete one of them and it loads fine.
I can see what you mean about perhaps some people being put off, but he's a lovely looking creature and tbh if I was coming to look at him I would appreciate the honesty and be certain that whatever you told me about him would be the truth. You'd only get people whinging that 'you never told me it wasn't good for the farrier/clipping/etc'. if you hadn't said anything.
Not too honest at all. It is far better to read an advert where the seller is honest about all aspects of the horse, rather than wait until the viewing to find out the undesirable bits, or worse still wait until the horse is sold!
His negatives aren't that bad (though the lorry bit would drive me bonkers) and I hope that anyone looking at his advert will appreciate the honesty.
Wouldn't put me off, the price appears to reflect his problems and honesty is generally appreciated. Will probably put off the timewasters and none of the problems you describe are major issues.
He's a nice looking horse, and some of the things you describe like the clipping are quite common - and something I was misinformed about with mine, found out the hard way!
Good on you for tellling the truth, and giving a reason why the price is quite low won't shock people off - if a good-sounding horse is cheaper than it should be saneness and soundness alarms ring and you'll be lucky to get a caller. However he sounds a nice chap (I am quite near you and might get some of my friends ringing up!)
If I saw the horse advertised at that price without the 'buts' I'd be reluctant to call, and definitely wouldn't view if it wasn't revealed on the phone
But with the 'buts' I'd be much more likely to call up
No, not at all. Most horses have some kind of quirk and by being honest the right person wouldn't not buy him - in fact I think it will help him go to the right home.
Thats a great advert, wouldn't put me off in the slightest you have listed his problems and how to deal with them so i would take a look if i was looking for a horse.
I'm selling one at the moment and am being v.honest with people for which I'm getting many "Thanks for your honesty, I really appreciate it" but nothing further than that. So whilst I can happily sleep at night, it doesn't seem to be quite the right tactic to get the horse sold on.
Am happy with that for the moment though, in the hope I can find the horse the right home and still sleep at night!
Good for you for being honest. This approach must be good for business as people are sick of 'dodgy dealers' and unfortunately reputable dealers/producers get tarred with the same brush. People may or may not be put off this horse and I think you will place him pretty easily to be honest. It also shows that you tell the truth. It's no bad thing in this business to be regarded as having integrity!
It would make me think 'ahh, so these are the horses little quibbles' and I would just be glad that I know what they are from the off!
People never put everything in an ad and yet I know that no horse is perfect so many horses have 100% everything yet of course have their quibbles that your not told about.
My old horse didnt like the farrier and needed a monty roberts headcoller to load. My horse before that could be spooky and you couldnt clip his face for love nor money! We werent told these things when we brought them because they were sold as 100% in every way, yet I didnt really care it was just their little ways. They were safe and genuine and did the job and thats all I wanted so I dont think you will have any problem at all selling the horse you will just put peoples mind at rest
Refreshingly honest, and nothing you have said would put me off in the slightest, i would just think a talented boy with a bit of an opinion about certain things, bit of character is what i like!! It would make me feel more confident coming to see him too, as i'd think at least i know all the bad points....most horses you go to see have half these problems anyway but the owners are just not honest about it!!
tbh I would say he looks great on the pictures and has a great record, and its better you telling people what he's like and having happy owners, than someone finding out down the line and not being best pleased, hope you find him a good home
So basically he is a very smart, proven eventer who wont hack out alone, is a bit of a bugger to shoe and clip and does not like to be left alone on the lorry.
Personally, I think most horses have issues similar to this and I am bloody tempted to phone.......! OH might just flip if I did...
I love him!! I would definately snap him up if I had the cash
I think its refreshing to see some honesty in adverts.. the amount of time and money I've wasted going to see horses that are not as described in any shape or form is horrific!
