Micah so far only has one fault and that is when he gets scared he doesn't listen and any pressure he runs backwards then threatens to rear. I have 3 times given him the benefit of the doubt and got off an led him. Today however he did it in a napping way NOTHING scary it was the same place as before but no excuse this time (gate to the school)

Where I got my sudden confidence from I don't know BUT

I put him on a tight tight circle and spun him, then ask for forward didn't really work so I made sure my reins were long but he could 'feel' me then flexed alternatively while putting very gentle leg on (he's sensitive) WAHOO he went forward and was a good boy

Another rung on my confidence ladder

Thats great news. I've only ridden Lily once so far and she decided that rearing was an appropriate way to behave so I hope I'm as successful as you at cracking it!

Hot choccy for you hun

Dizz used to do the backwards thing, which sometimes ended up in a mini-rear. Use a stick on her bum and she'll put you in a hedge

, so either a smack on the shoulder, or a Thelwell kick works for us
