Throw some cool horse names at me

If I had got to name my mare she would have been Barbara rather than the rather chavvy Madison that someone else named her and that doesn't suit her at all.

I favour human names for animals; I have a cat called Kevin.

I'm the opposite, I don't like human names bar a couple e.g. Jasper (which I think of a semi-precious stone anyway) and Max. I like mythological names such as Zeus, Apollo, Minerva, Pendragon, Merlin etc.

I also like names such as Shadow, Dancer, Jet, Ebony (and Firefly - love that! :D )

I called a little grey tb mare polo. It suited her.

I like referring to sire and dam names.

We had a little grey pony called snow white when we bought her, changed it to snowgirl.

I like destiny
Hunter
Chaser
Foxhunter

My horse is called kings counsel

if you have a particular interest you can reference that In the name

Also literature is good
Kipling
Somerset
Mortimer

Favourite authors etc

I knew a pony called Alan!

I have a Billy, because when he went through the sales in Caven they took my friends name not mine and he said "oh so he's on my bill then!" and he's been Billy ever since!

edit-
I also have a Slumdog obviously, he was called that when we got him, no idea why lol

Mine are Trevor (the ex-racer - Trans Siberian), Adrian (the ISH - Corrigan II) and Jenny (the old retired mare - Jenny)!

I always wanted two geldings called Balthasar and Melchior.

I've got a mare called Portia- named in some moment of high brow intention after Shakespeare's character, but the next one will be Lotus if a mare and Ferrari if a gelding.

I've already named my next future horse Sheldon with the showname Bazinga (i LOVE the big bang theory!)

Hehe, that's Ned's show name! :D

If I got a white horse, I would call it either Snowmane, Asfaloth, Shadowfax or Nahar.
Snowmane was King Theodin's horse. Asfaloth is an Elvish horse. Shadowfax is the lord of all horses and Nahar was Oromë's horse. (Tolkien horses)

Of course there's Fatty Lumpkin the pony! If I ever got a Shetland...

Shinji or Kenji. Or if I got a race horse I'd call it Battle Royale!

Names I have heard over the years that stick in my mind;

Heister
Benito
Galpenero
Poldark (think someone has a horse called that on here)
Van Narven (think that is dutch for 'without name')
Vandale
Vandor
Phaedra
Escosses
Rigmarole
Agua Blanca
Gambit

There are two horses at my livery yard one called itchy and the other called Willie my OH pointed it out to me cos their saddles are kept next to each other - I didn't twig until that moment!

I'm rubbish at picking names so I'll just tell you the names of some of mine, past and present - with their show name in brackets....

Cherry (Morello Noir)
Ludo (Impulsive Purchase - yes, really!)
Indy (Indian Summer)
Albi (Albion Firecracker - because he was small and explosive ;) )
Boo (Boo Radley)
Sweetpea (Scarlett Sweetpea)
William (Brightlands Prince Llewelyn)

I also have a Jack and Joey.

Great names, I love Lotus too though.
